Default Hammer N4400 BS - Q for Felder

    Brendan,

Saw an ad for Hammer in the Oz woodworker mag today - it sez that the Hammer N4400 is 4hp x 1 x 230V. My understanding is that its a 2.5 hp x 1 x 230V. which is correct ? Additionally what is the cost of the unit (pls include GST in quote). Can you also please provide an up to date spec.

The reason I ask is that I was considering buying one but the 2.5 was a limiting factor for deep hardwood veneer ripping. If its is a genuine 4hp (230v) then I would be interested as it would be more powerful than the Carbatec 3Hp (230v) I was considering instead.... Additionally is the HP measured at the motor or the top thrust bearing ?

Last question - does Felder NSW provide HP, Periodic payments etc ?

    Cheers and ta.

You'd be correct there Zed. I 'm fairly sure the 4hp is 3phase (400v) and the 240v job is 2.5hp

Yeah, you too Grog ? it certainly confused me... I saw the review in the AWR on the N4400 in this edition and was impressed by the review but the 2.5 did bother me a bit.... Lets see what Felder sez eh..

    as he changes hands

Good morning Zed. Lovely to read your dulcet tones on a Friday morning.

Ahh...that ad. Apparently in UK earlier this year, Felder were offering the N4400, single phase, 4hp. To be able to do this, they had to order a large quantity, and they tied the promotion in with the 50 Year Celebration of Felder machines.
Unfortunately we are not in a position to order the large quantities that Felder UK could, and are unable to offer the machine the larger single phase motor.
So the single phase motor here is Oz is 2.5hp, and the three phase is 4hp. I don't know if there was a mix up (typo) with the ad, or if the format was borrowed from the UK, and someone didn't check it properly.

The cost of the single phase unit is $2,600, which includes GST. This is the price if you pick it up from our showroom, easily achieved with a ute or a trailer. Alternately delivery can be organised, price obviously depends on where you live.

    Specs are here http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=22701

Only way to tell properly is to compare them both. I am bringing a single phase N4400 to DIY Dan's Meet and Greet on the 30th of September. You coming? He has a large Carbatech bandsaw, but I'm not sure exactly what model. You are welcome to bring along some of your toughest stuff (nails removed, of course  ) and test the Hammer bandsaw.

I believe it is measured at the motor, but will double check with Austria over the weekend.

We have a few people who are paying off their bandsaws at the moment, but they haven't received them yet. We are quite happy to accept payment in installments, but the bandsaw does not leave our showroom until it has been paid in full.

Hope this answers all your queries. If not - fire away!

Maybe this should be a PM, but have you heard of Floor Financiers? Do you know why GE is so big? It is no longer because of their electrical products, but is from their financing.
But lots do not like them. There are others who could provide finance for your customers.
They would get their product earlier.
    Would you like to learn?
Have I got a deal for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am I right to guess that this suggestion is being made to me?

If so, no thanks - I would not like to learn.

Some of our customers use finance to purchase their machines, particularly if it is an asset they are purchasing for their business use. In this instance (and only if we are asked) we refer them to a particular finance broker we know who has a better understanding of the machines and their value than a bank normally does.
And before anyone starts raising eyebrows - no, we do not get any kickbacks from this guy. We refer people to him because he is good at what he does.

It isn't viable for a business of our size to set up a finance option.

Almost forgot! Received an e-mail from Austria over the weekend confirming my thoughts.
