    Default Second Hand Tablesaw Advice

    Hey Everyone,

Just after some advice on purchasing a second hand tablesaw.

Upgrading from the trusted Triton Workcentre, looking at possibly purchasing a secondhand Carbatec TS-12R (single phase).

Can anyone give me some pointers to look for or check over when I go see the machine in the flesh? I haven't owned a dedicated tablesaw before, so feel free to point out anything that may seem obvious to everyone else.

    Thanks!

Pitting on the top. Make sure you see it running, should be whisper quiet only noise should be the blade. No smoke, no burning smell. Make sure everything is square and stiff. Mitre slide should be bang on parrallel with the blade, fence should be parrallel, square, shouldn't move as it's being tightened. Top should be flat. Angle and height should wind smoothly but be stiff enough to stay in place when released. The wheel may move but the blade shouldn't.

Go have a feel of a new one to get an idea.

It is worth considering the cost of an inverter or replacment motor. 3 phase industrial quality machines can be had for stupid prices.

There aren't a plethora of saws on ebay just now. Usually there are dozens at great prices.
