Considering how close in design etc I hope no one gets offended if we can combine the threads.. Admin can you help please.
I have this little thingy hanging from my stop startpin.jpg

can you advise me what it is for?

@TonyZ from memory that was able to be put through the red cut off switch when depressed effectively disabling/childproofing the saw.

I looked at the pic in enlarged form to try and work out what was on the chain. I believe it's a pin. I also noted what appears to be a hole on the start switch housing side and a corresponding hole in the side of the start button. Wondering whether the pin can be inserted through the housing and button to prevent the button being pressed to start the saw. Seems to be a very poor safety mechanism if that is the case though as kids etc would probably try to pull on the chain and accidently remove the pin anyway. A proper lock out switch would be more effective long term.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

This. I think it goes through the green power switch from memory. Meant to child proof the saw.

absolutely stupid idea. Those designers havent played with kids.
1 big shiny stick..... lets pull it and see what it does
2 big red button..... if you can show me a kid who can
    A. get their pinkies around that knob
    B. now twist and pull at the same time

I have a rule NO ankle biters/ toerags under 7 ever in my shed., had one lil rag came in with mamby pamby daddy (visitor, not related) I asked him to remove child(?) he said she will be alright wont touch anything. so I hit the kill switch and opened up master power box and switched the circuit off. "The power goes back on when she leaves". He got all huffy. never seen him again thank goodness..

    DUST QUESTIONS.
Who has had to work with their warrantee??

is that dust thing under the blade really worthwhile. Personally its about as useful as windows on a submarine. But I daren't remove it in case of warranty. But if I took a risk thinking I wont need to claim, heres what Id plan on doing.

    * remove the blade dust cover and its dinky little useless hose
    * cut a pice of ply/MDF to fit inside the cabinet at an angle, highest side below the motor, angled down to below where the 4" dust outlet is, seal all the cracks around the ply
    * remove the metal cover from around the motor, make a plywood one with big air vents for dust suction
    * make or buy (someone was showing a rectangular one about 330 x 90 into a 4" outlet

although I keep asking, why suck dust 90* across the blade, whereas would it be more productive/beneficial to put air vents above the height winding wheel and outlet at bottom rear of machine. Reasoning this way any dust that does get into the cabinet is being sucked out in the direction its already going, rather than suddenly trying to get it going 90* right turn.
    Hope thats understandable.

Next job is the overhead dust system, why d I keep changing my ideas/thoughts ...at 2AM

well after much frustration we have solvered the problem.
Initially all I could work out was removing the whole top, rails, extension , cast iron bed. I googled and Utubed found a Grissley where they removed the dust shute. Well that gave me a much better view inside.
Then had the brainwave of removing the cover box opposite the motor box/door. Yahhh I could finally see what I wanted to see.
Raise the trunnion up as high as possible, loosen the motor giving as much slack to the belt as possible, carefully slide belt on and reverse whole process.

What a fiasco and Carbatec tech were as useful as dead cats. I guess if you read the instruction manual and then guess your OK

I have also removed the factory dust collector from under the blade and added 2 pieces of timber inside the cabinet sloping towards the dust outlet.

Thank you for the suggestions. It is a product that I also use. Let me state the following:

The Harvey Table Saw is a table saw that is designed for the DIYer. It has a 7-inch blade and it is compact enough to be stored in a small space. It's nice to work with table saw.
