    Hi powered wood cutters,
I've had this model for a year now and have been pretty happy with it. I've ripped and cross-cut a fair bit of old gnarly hardwood at full height, ply and laminated chipboard (for other people!) to finely calculated dimensions. Timber such as ironbark, tallowwood, coachwood, river red gum, has been eaten like it's breakfast with the stock 48t blade.

The table is pretty, pretty, pretty flat, the blade parallel to the mitre slots, and upon arrival the only really fiddly bits and adjustments were setting up the fence, and the table wings to be flat/with the cabinet top. Just make sure you've thought through how to get this unit from the delivery truck/depot into your man-cave/work-shop, this bad boy is heavy for it's size packed in a pallet. I have access issues to my shed, and resorted to using a heavy duty engine hoist and car box trailer. Then myself +4 strong fellas to help lift it onto a mobile base that was delivered late, and after I no longer had the engine hoist.

Some minor annoyances exist but overall these can be rectified and don't detract too much from my satisfaction for the money. The bolt securing the lower access door to stay shut was missing, and one of the bolts that keeps the fence components sandwiched together was broken in half. No effect on function, and can be replaced. Don't trust the safety pin lockout on the on/off switch - testing has revealed it can still be turned on depressing the on button deeply, but whatever.

I haven't got my dust extraction system fully realised yet, and I plan to replace the 100mm DC inlet on the lower cabinet with 6". At least (I'll have to double check this) the DC inlet is plastic covering what I recall is a 6 inch square cutout in the cabinet. Don't expect this unit to win any dust collection design awards. My unit came with a wide riving knife, and a crappy blade guard/overhead dust collector. The mitre gauge is pretty crappy, too much slop in adjustment and you can't trust you're locking into a desired angle that will be repeated. The fence however is decent, it's straight, solid feeling, slides smoothly, and locks down tightly. You can't make a controlled left/right adjustment with any finesse as you have to completely disengage the lock and give the hefty fence some love taps. But I've never used an aftermarket fence, and I'm just happy this one feels solid, straight and locks down good.

Hope you're all getting on well with your Harveys, and keep those hands safe!

    Cheers,
    Wolfdogg

    Gday again

Does anyone if we can get the other blade gard and how much?

I remeasured the alignment as my last test was off after a few goes
the guys who set the table up forgot to tighten the bolts up again or not tighten enough
so as I moved it around the garage it went pear shape anyway it's a good thing haven't started any projects yet
just glad I made more test cuts before any huge mistakes so made sure all is nice and firm now.
I also offset the rail by one to increase the cut as woodenjoys did

and thanks for the info on the manual Rob

    Regards
    PANDA

Thanks for all the comments in this thread. I have been going back and forth trying to decide on what will be my first table saw. You guys made it easier for me so I went and ordered one and should be receiving it some time tomorrow. Look forward to putting it together and trying to make sense of the little tips I've been reading.

Hi Wolfdogg, I you set the 6" system up well you should have good dust collection I fitted my Laguna Platinum(made in the same factory) with pipe to within about 9" from the saw to keep the flexi to a minimum. Then use a bit of 90x45 to prop the door open or cut a decent hole in the door. I have a Clearview which leave practically no dust in the cabinet but you should get pretty good results with one of BobL's modified dusties and 6" pipe. Another idea that might help is to make a shield in three parts that slopes down to the dust outlet to direct the dust.

My saw came with a guard that has the anti-kickback pawls and the lift up sides. I am pretty sure a lot of the parts are interchangeable so you might be able to get one from Gregory's.

Hello there Marinos. Where did you get that mobile base? How did you get it off the pallet and onto the base?

    Hey Beardo,

Try Get Woodworking in Williamstown. Roy may have something for you to look at.
When I purchased mine, he had a Harvey HW110LGE-30 put together.

    Cheers.

I bought my Harvey HW110LGE-30 in late June from Roy. My first real table saw. Everyone keeps going on about his friendly, approachable nature and after sales support. He has been great. Can't ask for better customer service IMO.
    And the saw is awesome.
