Harvey HW110HB-30 unboxing
Hi all,
Just thought I would share my new saw. I just received my new Harvey table saw here in Melbourne from wood working warehouse. They are great to deal with and delivery was easy. The saw came on a pallet and was well packed with no damage or defects:
.
Assembly went very smoothly, extension wings went on very easily only needing one single masking tape shim on each side. They are as flat as my veritas straight edge which I use to set all my machinery.
The fence and rails were exceptionally easy to set up with the table being square to the saw blade as well as the fence out of the box. No adjustments needed so far.
The saw itself performs well and has plenty of power. Replaced the blade out of the box to a Freud 40 tooth and it cuts very well. Quick change riving knife is also great and is very easy to replace with the blade guard.
From what I have seen I'm very happy with the machine so far as well as the service from wood working warehouse. Spent around 6 months looking at saws with a roughly $2000 budget. I chose this over the Jet pro shop and the Laguna Fusion among others. If anyone has any questions let me know! Ive only used it for a day so far so this is just my first impression!
Thanks

Waiting on mine from Ryan's> Al-tho mid next month seems so far away. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas day.
My only problem is that I just had an op on my hand for Carpal Tunnel , and I'm booked in a few weeks for the other hand
And saying all that. It's nothing that a few carton of beer can't fix ,for a couple of mates to assemble it together, if my hands are out of action
and I know it would drive me up the wall, when it arrives just to stare at the pallet and not be able to assemble it

Hi Guys,
I too am looking at getting one of these table saws for my shop. Just wondering how you have found them:
* What are the best features?
* What would you change (if you could)?
* How has performance been during use?

Still Waiting for mine to get here Perth , but I was told on Tuesday that it's on the transport
on it's way here. It's like waiting for Christmas morning when your a little cobber.
And my wife thinks it's so funny seeing me so exited waiting, she asked me if I would do tricks if she threw some boiled lollies
fumy woman. Anyway dismantled everything in the garage so i can better reorganized the small space
to take full advantage of the new machine when it gets here next week, so thing are a bit all over the place
My sparky mate coming to install a separate 20 amp switch in the main box and change several power
outlets. so i, wondering now if should post some pics when it get and start assembling the saw since there are a few now
post now please give me some feedback if you like some posted from my end.
well enough babbling
have a nice day all

By the way if anyone is wondering why the 20 amp for the garage
Are house is and older stile and still has the old wire fuses, the got replaced ages ago with push in barkers but
this time around getting the board change with the proper safety switches so I asked my mate to have the garage separate from the rest of the house then
I shouldn't have any problems if I get any other machines in the future and It's getting a hard wired fire Alar in the house and Garage alarm
And I would rather pay him cause even if it's a mates love job the part aren't love , its very small outlay compared to having your home burn down
like his did a few years back in Toodyay .poor bloke it wasn't from and electrical fault

I placed my order yesterday for a HW110HB-30 .... with the cabinet mounted trunions, 2.5HP motor and only a 10A power requirement it ticks all the boxes for me!
Can't wait to get it - i think my woodworking is going to be so much more enjoyable now that I will have a decent tablesaw

Well its here and wow. The Boys from the shop that I purchased it, dropped it off already assemble and ready to to
well with in reason a minor adjustments were needed. The only reason for that I think is in the back of the truck bouncing one wing was a bit out at one end
The blade was spot on. my only little disappointment is and not the aliment that is very good as well. I just wanted to set it up for me left handed
It's not a biggy but make using the machine so much more pleasing so now just use it as is for now until new measuring stick on tape come in.
a few test cuts and yes very nice and very happy with the hybrid and perfect for the space in the garage.
So guys sorry no pics on assembly cuz I did not have to do it. But plenty of reviews
and pics in others post.
Now only thing left is to redesign the garage outlay to maximize the use of space. In the process now of taking down all
the shelving I put up years ago garage was put on it's own safety switch on Saturday, wood rack down to wow in such a short time the amount of wood and melamine
I collected is mind blowing. Most of it came from busyness that get stuff imported from the states or Euro on heavy duty crates made with oak
even got some maple, not that they get lots of crates their just fully enclosed.
Anyway enough ranting along and very pleased with the saw
and my wife not so much because she has been almost replaced by a machine lol wow if it could just cook to lol
all jokes aside my wife is a very good and great women sticking by me after having that nasty accident
broke my neck and lower back and lost the leg after getting t-boned on my bike a bit over year in hospital the rehab trying to walk again
and depression its been just over 5 years now from the accident and o i can't forget the little recent stroke I had recently
now that was scary to parallelized like that being a lefty and no power to lift.
so my first project on this saw will be for my wife just don't know what it will be yet,and again I went on a babble tangent
have a nice day all

My Harvey HW110HB-30 arrived on Friday, and I put most of it together yesterday afternoon. I offset the rails by one bolt hole - which increased my rip capacity to 950mm (they included a 920mm measuring tape).
Today will do the fine tuning adjustments of the Blade and fence. And hopefully a few test cuts.
WAPANDA - what blade guards came with your unit?

My blade Gard
Is a clear one peace plastic with a dust collector port its not very good or maybe I.m not use to it, its very rigid and wont go up and down as you push
wood threw and no anti kick back knives on it so yes a bit disappointed with that. But A bonus I got 2 riving knives and was wondering why i looked over
them they seem the same and no markings on in like the a mate has on his 50 model, so i measured them both on a caliper and one is 2.8 mm the other 1.6mm
I'm a bit at confused about this.
In all I've been reading that some newer blades are thinner and the kerf is not as big so for the moment I will assume that's what its for or could be just
a bad factory item that was dropped in so not sure what the 1.6mm knife is for yet. I've been trying to look it up but haven't found anything of substance yet except the few articles on blades getting thinner but the more I read about the blades to me they are only for hand held skill saws
Every thing else is the same as yours and apart from blade guard and the boys setting it up right handed i love it
before forget I offset the fence 0.5mm at the out, this is approx 0.0197 of an inch still accurate and helps to prevent kick back like Ihave read about and a few you tubes on set up. all my test cuts are spot on.
hopefully yours isn't to different from mine

Yes i got the same guard, but pictures on the website show a different guard. The manual also mentioned another blade guard with separate moving sides and anti-kickback pawls. I have emailed Ryan at MWE to see if this 2nd blade guard should have been shipped - and that there may have been a manufacturing mix-up. I hope so, as I was of the opinion that the other blade guard was included! I also received two riving knives - though they appeared to be stamped as the same thickness. Will need to check, but will be great if one is for thin kerf blades, then that opens up more options for new blades.

So the reply i got is the saw comes with 2 riving knives and the blade guard with dust port. So i received the correct items. The other guard is the usa style guard, which does not come with the saw.
Hope this clears it up for others.

""The fence and rails were exceptionally easy to set up with the table being square to the saw blade as well as the fence out of the box. No adjustments needed so far. ""
I can understand how the blade was square with the mitre slots out of the box ... but the fence correlation to the blade and mitre slot is generally not an out of box affair.
I have spent a great deal of time to get that correlation on my Harvey .. dial indicator is essential for this function.
Some books will say to leave a 1/64 over the length to ensure no jamming ... I didn't but all seems to work well.
Just ensure that all the packing grease is cleaned off machine (inside and out) otherwise wood dust will build up
For a good manual go to the US Grizzly site and find their model which corresponds with yours.
Happy cutting
Rob
