Harvey HW110LGE-30 Tablesaw Saw Blade Raising (and Lowereing) Issues
I knew something was wrong as it got harder to raise and lower the blade .. so I cleaned out the dust and applied the whit lithium grease.
While doing the servicing I found a mangled copper washer in the dust at the bottom of the saw, and the other half sticking out from behind the nut at the end of the angle shaft on the trunnion.
It happened on Saturday ... and since then I have replaced the washer (18mm ID X 1mm ... PN 122) on the trunnion assembly on the nut side of the mechanism.
But no matter how many variations I make on the nut and worm I can't get an even travel ... going up is relatively OK, but on the decent the blade repeatedly hangs and then drops a few mm.
The screw thread that runs in the worm gear makes contact on the way up pushing the thread forward, but on the way down the moves from pushing up to pulling down( I dont know how else to explain it). When it starts coming down the weight of the motor keeps the threads together but 2/3 down the movement changes and the screw goes from a push movement to a pull movement ... and as this happens the saw blade drops a few mm. During the last 1/3 of movement this happens 3 or 4 times.
Sorry about not being able to be more specific about the problem ... but if you have had the same you will know what I an trying to explain.
Any help would be appreciated ... please.
Thanks
Rob

From your description, what you are describing is backlash. The looseness that occurs when the thread is engaged one way to when it re-engages when turned in the opposite direction.
Not sure how to remedy your problem though...sorry.
I'm sure someone will come to your rescue.
Steven.
