Thechuck at the end of the shaft can be for a disc sander, or a dowelling drill, or a mortising attachment, hence the extra table. There are a few things missing from that machine, guards and such, tread carefully.

Looks like a version of what I have out the back -Definitely different brand though. Yours should have probably a leg O mutton guard for the planer & a riving knife with top guard attached as was common in the era - guessing 1960s
I also have the side table thing - but no accessories apart from the table itself. Just wondering - my unit adjusts heights Saw/ planer by moving the TABLE up or down - No tilt possible apart from the fence. Your's the same?
