    Default Hybrid vs entry level table saw

    Hi all, happy new year!
    New to the boards and am currently in the process of purchasing a new table saw.
    Ive been reading all the post on this board and doing a stack of research and now want some final advice! Ill try keep it brief:

    I'm working in a home shop building small- medium sized pieces of furniture. Im looking at spending around $2000 give or take a few $100. Ive been to all the suppliers around Melbourne and checked out Harvey, Jet, Baileigh however I'm yet to see a Laguna.

    My preferences is for a lighter weight saw for movability. So <200kg, 10amp (i have 15 amp but my cnc, jointer/thicknesser and dust collection are running on those circuits) apart from that I want it fully featured, so good quality T square fence, riving knife, a 30-40" rail as well as cabinet mounted trunnions. So as you can imagine I've arrived at a either an entry level table saw or a quality hybrid saw.
    Ive spent a while on the second hand market (yet to buy a new tool!) however in this case I want to purchase new!

    I have made a longish list of contenders, but my current dilemma is whether to go for a high end hybrid like the Laguna fusion or a Baileigh TS-1044HH (Laguna edges out with wheels as well as proven performance and stop button being mounted on the rail and not the cabinet of the saw) or alternatively moving up a little in weight and going for a Harvey HW110HB-30 or a Baileigh 1040e-30. The upside of the Fusion or similar is the 36" rail but its seemingly lighter duty. I'm really just after your opinions as both types of saws address my needs! Also if anybody has any other recommendations would be great to know if I've overlooked any. The jet proshop was considered however at $2000 i feel the other options are a bit more saw, but I may be incorrect.

    Thanks!

    Hi Marinos

    I've recently bought the Laguna Fusion, reading the Bailiegh manual, it looks to be the same saw, with a Digital Read-out.

    Having previously had a Chinese made 10/12 TS I was looking for;

    * Easy to remove / reinstall riving knife, when using a dado blade
    * Better dust extraction
    * A generally better build quality.

    The Fusion ticked all these boxes and required minimal 'tweaking' prior to use, using a [URL="http://www.woodworksupplies.com.au/woodpeckers-table-saw-gauge-(2)"]Woodpeckers Table Saw Gauge /URL] it just required a 2 minute fence adjustment.
    In essence; would I recommend it? Yes! it's a good all rounder.

    BTW, we don't sell table saws but willingly recommend products we use and like.

    Regards

    Grahame

    Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Yeh the four models I'm looking at are really two, the laguna fusion and Baileigh hybrid being based on the same same basic design as well as the Harvey HW110HB-30 and the Baileigh 1040e-30. The only thing the between them is price and availability here in Melbourne. The stop button location worries me on the Baileigh hybrid not as easy to quickly access as the Laguna fusion which is slightly more well appointed and has a great track record. On the flip side the Baileigh is cheaper but only by about $200. The list price of the Baileigh Hybrid is currently exactly the same as the Baileigh 1040e-30 which makes me think the real decision is between the Laguna Fusion or the Baileigh 1040e-30? What are your thoughts? For reference the Baileigh 1040e-30 still comes in cheaper than the laguna (in Melbourne at least)

    Oh and the link isn't working for me! Page on the online store says the item cannot be found!

    Love my Harvey

    I wouldnt worry about the 15a plug. You have the circuit for it. It doesnt matter how many tools you have connected to this circuit as long as you limit the number of mAchines running at the same time

    Hi Marinos

    $200 is insignificant over the life of the saw ('though it may not be right now)? One other feature that I really like is the Laguna's 915mm rip capacity, this wasn't a priority up-front but now I have it, I really appreciate it.

    Good to see the feed-back an advice you're receiving.

    Regards

    Hi Damienol, good point although the other concern is mobility! Prefer to have a sub 200kg saw for now, all of those tend towards 10amp any way. Good to hear from a Harvey owner, which model do you have?

    Agreed Grahame, $200 isn't going to make my decision for me especially on such an important piece! The Laguna looks like a great saw, just need to check availability!

    Hey, I have the HW110LGE-50, review here Harvey HW110LGE-30

    If it is on a good mobile base then weight doesnt matter. I use to have mine in a 2 metre wide shed and had to move it nearlly every cut
