Incra v27 - mitre gauge hits edge of table saw SB12
Morning All
I have an old Incra v27 with a Hafco SB12 Table saw - these I bought second hand. I have always had an issue with the mitre gauge.
When I slide the gauge back past the edge of the table saw (Towards myself) when I slide it forward again the face of the protractor hits the edge of the Table. This means I have to lift it to get it onto the table surface. I believe the problem is that the miter bar sits too deep in the slot.
My Miter slot is 12.38 mm deep and the mitre bar on the gauge is only 9.52 deep
Is this a common issue - is there a fix others have done?
I was thinking of putting a washer between the miter bar and the protractor to raise it up ... no harm in trying?

A washer/or 2 would be my choice. Try it. You can always change it
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

It is normal for the mitre gauge bar to be shallower than the mitre slot so there is nothing wrong there. On my tablesaw there is a lead in chamfer on the front edge of the table so when pushing the gauge forward it rides up the chamfer onto the flat tabletop. The chamfer is only about 5 - 10° off the horizontal and maybe about 10mm long.
If you are using a sacrificial fence on the front of your gauge you could add the chamfer to the bottom of the fence and that would do the same thing as what is on my table.Dallas

Thanks both for those suggestions! Apologies for the late reply - I had missed the notifications.
I have tried the washers and they seem to work well, the chamfered sacrificial fence is a good idea too - I might try that later in future.
The concern I have with the mitre sitting to low is the angle of the timber changes when the protractor part of the gauge slides onto the table saw base. This is not a problem at 90 degrees however if i was mitering at an angle i assume it would impact the cut.
