Well I finally got my faulty switch replaced. They ended up putting a completely different switch on in that had a higher capacity coil. Much bigger than the original recessed one though, looks similar to the switch on my JTAS table saw.
Out of interest, what is the largest size board you guys have put through the planer component?
I've put 2.4m treated pine sleepers at 50mm thick through, but it would wouldnt feed 3m long sleepers - i played around with infeed support but couldnt get it through more than about the first 500mm,

yes i checked that and I did have a a problem with one board that I just through in there where It changed dimensions too much.
But typically I was only taking 2mm off (or at least attempting to).
Im thinking its the length essentially putting to much upward pressure on the infeed roller so it stalls.
I also get an occassional machine gun type sound when the board is first engaging...doesnt seem to impact on the quality of the cut or anything. Just happens as Im starting the feed.

Ditto what John says above.
Spartan, do you put anything on your tables to cut friction? I always rub on a slick of Silverglide before starting. Makes a mountain of difference.Brian

Try 3.6 m Tallow wood Boheeeeemoth boards for my bench!! ahaha!
I had three people, one feeding, the driver - me making sure downward pressure and finally a guy to catch the outfeed, plus I had rollers in and out!
It was like asking Thorpy to make the Olympic team.........fail!
So once I choped the boards up a bit it ate them up for breakfast. my 100x100 legs were 120x130 to start and she handled them no probs.
I am still in love with that machine.
