Default Laguna Fusion Table saw Fence

    Hi

This is my first post to this awesome forum, a few months ago I purchased aLaguna Fusion 10" table saw from Gregory Machinery in QLD the customerservice is another topic all together but since getting it I have aligned it asprecisely as I could and got the slots running to the blade at a max of 0.002which is good enough.

I aligned thefence as best I could which the number did vary across the face but did get itall under 0.007 which is ok but soon as you get to the middle of the fence andhave any pressure pushing up against it, it allows 3-3.5mm of movement awayfrom the blade.

I have tried aligningit again and even put a aux face on it and the same thing occurs so just afteridea’s and opinions for an upgrade for my fence, it’s a Biesemeyer Style fence.

    Thanks

Why upgrade it when the problem should be fixed under warranty?

I have never agreed with a fence being parallel with the blade, it should always toe out on the out feed side to allow for the wood being cut to not jam against the back of the blade and kickback. The fence actually ceases to guide the wood as soon as you have a blade diameter buried in the timber because then the blade in effect becomes the guide and there is nothing the operator can do about it if he values an injury free existence.

    Greetings Dradyz,

I have a Laguna Fussion that I bought in October 2013. Since I bought the saw, I've managed to easily keep the Fence to Slot alignment less than 0.005" along the full length of the fence. So, I just ducked out to the shed and ran the Dial Gauge against the fence to see if I can identify the momement that you're seeing. It seems that my fence is almost rock solid. If I am somewhat brutal and apply a lot of sideways force at the far end of the fence, I can make it deflect by up to 0.040" away from the blade, but that means really leaning on thefence (and each time the fence came back in good alignment when I let the pressure off). I am NOT seeing fence movement anything like the 3-3.5mm that you're seeing.

I'll need to check the handbook to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that there are one or more adjustments you can make in the Fence Head and/or in the Fence Locking Lever that should zero out the movement you're getting. There may also be a fundamental assembly error in the Fence Head and/or Fence Locking mechanism. After taking my fence off and having a close look, I think that my first action would be to check tighten all of the assembly screws in the fence. If you've got more than 3mm slop in the fence, you should be able to visually see which parts are moving against each other, when they should actually be locked solidly together.

If the above suggestions don't do it for you, and you need to contact Gregories for a warranty claim, PM me and I'll send you a direct email link for one of their Sales guys who has done good prompt work for me so far. (PM me - I don't want to plaster his direct email address all over the web !)
