Laguna
Stewy,
I've used an imported Laguna bandsaw in the past and it seemed like a well built machine with some good features and no apparent issues. I currently own a hammer c331 combination machine as well as a Jet 18inch Bandsaw. Both of these are great machines with no issues. The hammer is exceptionally well built and is a step above the jet machines that I own and the Laguna machines I have used elsewhere. Hammer provides terrific support even though I purchased mine second hand. When I visited their Melbourne showroom they spent about an hour going over a combo with some great advice given. As for Gregory's, I've currently been waiting for over two weeks for an in stock machine to be freighted this way. When I eventually contacted them a couple of days ago, they told me that they had under quoted freight by $40 and asked that I deposit this amount, a call or an email would have been great. I'm still unsure if it's on its way with no further contact. Not overly impressed with the service at this stage! I'll give you a heads up if it improves.
If you have any specific questions about the machines? Send them through.

Thanks for that Dave
I am leaning heavily towards the Hammer machines at this stage
They just seem to get good reports everywhere you look
Will have a real good look at them at the Wood show tomorrow and go from there
Regards

I ordered a part for a small Jet metal Lathe at the beginning of this year through Gregorys. The original salesperson with whom I was dealing left their employment and the matters he had pending seemed to have been not acted on. Agreed with new salesman to pay airfreight to hurry up the part's arrival. No real progress so I phoned the company last week only to be told that they had severed their agency with Jet and had gone to Laguna. Heavens knows when we get the part. Reminds me of my frustrating dealings with one of the big Telcos.
I say go with the Hammer.

Well that didn't wasn't to painful!
just got home from the wood show less about 8k
Placed an order for an A3-31 with silent power head and a N4400
everytime I looked at other machines I just kept coming back to the Hammer products
was looking at the C3-31 but was just a bit out of the price range at the moment so will have to save up for a B3 in the future
now just have to wait until November for them to arrive, that bit sucks a bit bunt it should be worth the wait

I take delivery of a A3-31 with the silent power head at the end of the year. I can't wait to test it out on some figured timbers!
I'm going to order a N4400 next week also. I'm over having machines that are fiddly to set up and not as accurate, so i'm looking forward to owning some quality machinery.
Please post when you have given it a test run.
