Default Laguna platinum arbor removal - help needed

    Dear colleagues,

Time has come to change bearing(s) on my Laguna TS. However this task seems to exceed my mechanical aptitude. After table top removal, here is what I found (pic). Pulley is located in between 2 solid cast iron bearing housing. I am looking for advice what do do next, being not a big fan of wacking stuff. Provided that pulley is locked with a key, I am not sure how to proceed.
Community help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Michael

Yeah, definitely don’t whack it. Are there any grub screws in the bottom of the pulley Vees?

I will look tomorrow but even if I find them, where pulley would go?

One step at a time. 😊

After removing any grub screws from the pulley and the nut circled in red, the arbor MIGHT pull out. See how that goes and get back to us.

When you say “the time has come to change the bearings” what do you mean? Are they noisy? My table saw is 40 years old and the bearings are fine.

There are 2 reasons for this exercise: 1. Metal noise (with any blade) and 2. Blade wobbling.
I cleaned blades, flanges and changed belts - no effect. So, in my opinion, the cause of it all could be arbor or motor bearing(s)

I found and removed grab screws (pulley is loose now) but there is no way to remove it because it sits between 2 bearings (1,2) which are pressed into cast iron housing. Most saws would have pulleys located where red arrow is but I am not so lucky.
Few taps moved arbor by 1-2 mm (on can see proud bearing on the "general view" picture) Maybe this is the way to go. However, it will take real waking to push bearings out of their housing. Should I remove the entire contraption (red arrow; numbers 1 and 2 are on the same location as on the other photo).

    What do you think?

I don't think the arbor is captured by the bearings. It looks like the nut secures the arbor within the bearings and the grub screw secures the pulley on the arbor. It SHOULD come out now. Gentle tapping with a brass/leather/plastic mallet might get it out. But don't strike it hard.

But, I think you're being a bit hasty in changing the bearings. When you rotate the arbor with your fingers do you feel any grating that would indicate worn bearings? Or does the arbor rotate smoothly? How old is the saw? Laguna are a good brand. I doubt they use poor quality bearings.

Most quality machines come with an exploded parts diagram. Do you have one? If not, can you get one from Laguna?

Well, it turned out that riving knife holder (yellow arrow) was preventing arbor from popping out.
Now bearings is out (6005RS) and I think about buying them from Canberra retailer. One bearing was squeaky indeed!
    Saw was made in 2003

I think it was an easy part. Putting it all together would be a different story.

    Thank you for your help!

PS. Few years ago I bought Felder bandsaw. Good brand indeed! But it is the biggest lemon I've ever bought. Never cuts straight despite hours and hours of tuning.
