incra gauge
Hi Armour's
I have checked out the reviews for all of incra mitre gauges. The best result was for the v27. I was surprise as I thought that the dearer ones would be better. Yes I bought locally. It cost me $150.00 all up and arrived in a two days. My recommendation is buy locally unless you are going to save a lot. Otherwise it's not worth it.
cheers

Speed.
Correct.
The speed at the periphery of the blade would be higher.
Also depends on the hp rating as some manufactures advertise higher power output motors.
Its a mine field of differentials with these machines.
Cheers,
SM.

12in blade option
Hi SM,
Also you would probably get more flex with the larger blade.

thedge - glad to hear you are happy with your mitre gauge. It is nice to be able to make cuts at exactly 45 degrees without spending ages on test cuts and adjustments (as I used to have to do with my JET mitre gauge).
I hadn't even thought about using a 12" blade on this saw, Quite apart from anything else, it would foul the standard splitter assembly. You could get around this by making your own zero clearance insert with homemade splitter I suppose, but I'm not even sure a 12" blade would fit the cutout in the tabletop when fully extended. The cutout does have fillets at both ends which intrude into the available area quite a bit.

mitre gauge
Hi Mr Brush,
The mitre gauge is brillant. I hope to do more with it shortly. I myself would not try the 12 in blade, unless your cutting thicker timber. I don't think the motor would last.It would void any warranty.
cheers
