    Default Makita MLT100 blade alignment

I bought a MakitaMLT100 table saw a while ago and I’m trying to set it up to be a bit more accurate. I made a stand for it using the saw, and realised there’s a fair bitof play in the fence, as noted in other threads, so that’s another project already. The goal is to make some speaker cabinets initially, and eventually some simple furniture.

I checked out the woodwhisperer vid, using one of the test methods the blade appears to be a fair bit out of parallel with the mitre slots.
The manual does’nt say how to adjust the blade (only the fence).

Unless I’m missing something, the method described in this thread https://www.woodworkforums.com/f153/h...gnment-164347/ is’nt applicable to the Makita – the top is bolted to the base from within the base. This thread :

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/f153/makita-tablesaws-120114/index3.html#post1394232

refers to some screws for this adjustment, however it’s not clear to me which screws. There are 2 under the table at each end (see photos),can anyone confirm if these are the adjustment screws ? I can't see any other likely candidates.

Anyone wanting the solution to this problem email me [email protected] and I’ll email you the positive solution. It’s really easy

    Default Adjustment bolts

I recently bought a mlt 100 that was misaligned.

There are two bolts which must be loosened to adjust the alignment of the blade. The bolts can be accessed from a small slot directly under the table saw top surface at the front of the saw. The slot is right above the crank used to raise and lower the blade. The slot is perhaps an inch high and 6 inches wide.

The two bolts can be loosened with a 10mm wrench. Once loosened, the front of the blade will swivel. Adjust the blade and hold it in place while you tighten the bolts.

It's 2019 and we're still suffering from the same issue. That's pretty amazing. They should have improved the saw by now and provide an easy way to adjust the alignment.
I purchased a new MLT100 and will soon try the solutions mentioned in the post.

Hi, after reading this answer found a detailed document with various repair and adjustment instructions for the MLT100.

I would also be grateful if anybody has a solution.
My mitre gauge seems to have been made for a different saw,
I am beginning to wonder if this is a common problem.
ok ok I thought I had this problem to because I went halves with my dad a few years back on the saw for my 14th b day. The first time I went to use the mitre gauge it wasn’t going into the built in sliding table like it is meant to and than I noticed a little knob there not the handle to change the angle but in front of it assuming you took offf the hold won clamp. You loosen it and slide the mitre gauge into the slot with easy just remember to tighten the thing after other than that works perfectly fine besides the job site appeal to it and not being as accurate or as clean a cut in any way possible. This is why I want to upgrade my tablesaw that I have now to the Carbatec 30 t glide fence system tablesaw.

Hi. I am also an owner of the same saw and fortunately have not had some of the problems that others have. Thank you Mr Techstuff, your link should be the solution to everyone's problem. Good job finding it

    Hi fellow woodworkers!

Same problem with blade alignment here.
I used and older Makita mlt100 table saw for some very precise projects - I make architectural models - a couple of years back, with excellent results.
That was with minimum adjustments, perfectly aligned straight out of the box. I only made up a zero tolerance throat (90 and 45 deg) and a custom perspex cross slide. Worked a treat.
However, only bought a new mlt100n a week ago, did some cutting, only to find out the blade was off.
Had it replaced within 2 days, no probs (bunnings, unfortunately) and have the same issue. Quite disappointing. I am going to try following your suggestions and readjust the machine properly. Definitely Makita is not what it used to be anymore. But having said that, still seems reliable enough for all my work.
I cut: timber up to 35mm thick into small blocks, large sheet material as well - timber, plywood, mdf, foam pvc, perspex up to 30mm (into perfectly square blocks, then polish them - looks stunning) even sheet copper and brass (5mm thick and 45 deg mitre)
Just make sure you use the right blade fort the job and always keep super sharp

will post update on adjusting the blade when done!

    Cheers!

    Maciek

    Default MLT100 blade align

Had the sa me problem. Fist found one loosen screw on the floor. First didn't know where it came from, and later found the blade misaligned. By carefully examining the interior of the saw found where the screw came off. It was from upper end of one of the two bars holding motor. First the screw was fitter all 4 of them tightened, sadly found the blade more misaligned than before.

Tried every trick in the book to align the blade but has no success. Finally decided to to use washers at both ends of the rear bar as shims to create a space. This trick worked well, now has less than quarter of a mm variation. If I had shim washers little more thicker, the problem would have been solved 100%. It looks like this is a problem with the Makita MLT100 model which is a contractor job site tool. May be not good for cleans precision wood works.

I haven't had a chance to try this out yet but from looking at the saw the photo's in the first post don't show the correct screws. Those ones hold the motor to the table and allow it to pivot to make the cut angle.

The ones you want mount the motor to the side of the blade enclosure via two bars with flats machined on the ends. It looks like the rear mount is the only one that can be adjusted easily.
Loosen the front bar screws, take the screws out of both ends of the rear bar, put shims (M5 washers) under the flats of that bar and tighten everything up, bit of trial and error might be needed.

As I said, I haven't tried this yet, got too cold stripping down to see inside today but it seems the right way.

While you're in there I'd check the tightness of all the screws holding the base to top, I found 3 missing and the remaining three loose.

Mlt100 or mlt100n .So i found a easier way to get the blade square with the miter slot %100 . So i had the issue were i couldnt get it square and i losened the two bolts at the front of the saw that ajust the houseing front angle. I moved that asfar as it could ajust and no luck. So i went to try the washer idea and looked and thought the rear bar is faceing the oposite way to the front one. Rear bar flat side faces in and front bar the round side faces in. So i took both screws out of rear bar and turned the rear bar so the round side faces in and the screw goes through the flat side. Picture attached showing befor and after. Then after that all i had to do was use the normal ajuster bolts that move the front of the houseing. These teo bolts are above the angle ajuster handle and raise blade handle. Alittle opening ul see two bolts. Losen them them let it settle then retighten. In my case i didnt have to hold the houseing at a angle and tighten. I just let it sit how it wanted. And there it was square. Photos included the bar i changed and also measurements to show the distance between blade and miter front and rear of blade. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Hi, and thank you all for your comments! I noticed a blade misalignment as well on a MLT100n.

I followed the instructions on https://maklta.com.ua/userfiles/_pdf_sm/MLT100-WW.pdf for adjusting how parallel the blade is with respect to the top, but the metal piece with two hexagonal screws that you have to loosen didn't have enough play to correct the misalignment using this method in my case (distance to right miter slot was bigger in the front side than rear).

I ended up removing the metal piece, by disassembling the top from the plastic base, and enlarging the screw holes with a rounded file in the direction where I needed to push it further. With larger screw holes I could tilt the blade encasement to its right position as per the instructions on the pdf without actually applying force. This worked, although making the alignment properly is cumbersome. On a test cut, I reduced a 0.5 mm thickness variation over 80 cm down to 0.05 mm!

I am wondering if anyone has trimmed the tabs of the mitre slots on the top ? Its looks like the section is solid and would open up the slot (without the T) to a full 16 mm approx. I did see a guy on Youtube clean up the T slot with a Router which gave me the idea. These T slots are useless as NOTHING fits them. ANy thoughts guys ???
