MBS 300 tilt lock mechanism not working.
Hi guys,
The tilt lock mechanism on my old MBS-300 / WOODMAN TS-222 is shot and isn't locking the blade when it is at 45 degrees (dare I say 90 degrees too, but I check this before every cut and it doesn't change). The Bade angle shifts at 45 degrees as it is at full tilt, especially over a cut/cuts. A similar situation for the rise and fall but this has never been an issue as it locks pretty well.
Does anyone have experience in how to fix this? I have the manual but don't have much experience with pulling apart the mechanisms etc.
I have a fair few long 45 degree mitre cuts and have now hit a brick wall.
Any help really appreciated!
Cheers
Steve

Is the manual you've got any good? Grizzly generally produced much better manuals for any of this older Taiwan manufactured equipment. I'm pretty sure the Grizzly model number for the MBS-300 was G5959, the manual is available here - https://cdn0.grizzly.com/manuals/g5959_m.pdf
If the MBS-300 locking mechanism is the same as other table saws of the era the locking is provided by light tension between the locking knob, handwheel and shield plate. The tension is sufficient to stop the mechanism moving but it's still fairly easy to move the handwheel without loosening the locking knob. You wouldn't want any lubrication between the locking mechanism parts. If the locking knob is not providing sufficient pressure then a fix could be as simple as putting a washer between the knob and the handwheel.
Hope this helps.
