Metabo TK 1688 - couple of questions
Hi,
having acquired a Metabo TK 1688 table saw recently, and managed to find
a matching sliding table for mitre cuts, I was a bit surpised to see that the
two tables aren't level. If I use the table of the sliding attachment, the piece
of wood that needs to be cut is floating above the table saw's working
surface, leaving a gap of approximately 3-4 mm's.
Does ayone know if the sliding mitre attachment can be lowered,
so that the surfaces of both tables are level?
Also, when I try to make angle cuts, the angle of the blade cannot be
altered more than 40 degrees, approximately. When I try to turn it beyond
this point, the blade is starting to touch the insert in the table. Can this have
anything to do with the position of the blade?
Hope the above makes some sense: it's kind of hard for me to explain this
in English, being from Holland and all....
Thanks in advance!
Hans

Dear Hans,
Your best bet will be to register on to "http://www.woodworking.de" because whilst my command of German is of a level that would land me back in a Stalag if I was that guy getting on the bus at the border in "The Great Escape", I have nonetheless been able to detect at least one fairly extensive thread up there dealing with exactly your issue on exactly that saw. I believe that they call the alignment process the "five cut method"...
