New model of Ozito Table Saw 1500w

OK, so at the risk of being flamed for raising this, I just wanted to get people's opinion on what I think is a brand new model of Table Saw from Ozito:

Ozito 1500W Table Saw 250mm TSF-1210 I/N 6290283 | Bunnings Warehouse

It's not even on the Ozito website yet ( but their smaller 600W model is ).

I went and had a look at one in my local Bunnings and it looks pretty solid. One thing I noticed was the Mitre fence body was plastic, but there was virtually no play once the angle was set.
Likewise, setting the main fence also seemed solid and looked straight/parrellel to the blade.

One thing I couldn't see was if the Riving Knife behind the blade could come all the way down or not ( and I don't know enough about the saw to figure out if it could be made to go all the way down ).

for $198, I'm thinking this may get me started, but wanted other's opinion's on potential pitfalls.

Yes.........I know this saw isn't going to be as good as a $2k one, but it may just be enough to get me started. Even if I have to fork out for a better blade, and do some mods - perhaps it could become an OK saw?

Hi,

Chances are it's very similar to this one W446 | TS-251 Table Saw | machineryhouse.com.au , the aldi table saw and also one once branded GMC. There's quite a few threads where people got gmc ones going ok. No personal experience with any of them though. I get by with a circular saw and home made guide because I figure it's just as loud, 'accurate' and dusty as one of these saws.

I looked at these the other day & would not waste my money on them, too much plastic & cheap fittings on them. Just my opinion though.

I am looking at getting one as well, to start out with, and I was just wondering if anyone has got one set up and if it's any good. I also saw this one: Ozito 1500W 250mm Table Saw I/N 6290283 | Bunnings Warehouse and was wondering if it's better or not.

Save up a couple more hundred dollars and scour gumtree etc for a old triton saw bench most of them come with a decent saw attached when second hand .. more solid and more accessories to be found cheaper ... thats what I did ...and no its not the same as a 2k table but it does the job and more besides.

If your needs are modest, for the total outlay, it should do the job. If you find you are outgrowing it, then you can decide whether to modify to ease your growing pains, or move it and get something better and/or bigger.

It certainly wouldn't be fantastic, but you might just be surprised at what something like this can achieve if you have a will. My father and grandfather both in their own day, did amazing things with almost nothing, I myself started out with a modest 200mm hand held power saw and made interesting jigs to make it work better, then I moved on to a Triton MK3 and now Triton 2000.

However for anyone in Melbourne this might be a pretty decent buy, it's on the forum and now down to $300.00

I think this setup could make me change the budget, especially considering the option to be used as circular saw as well. What's your opinions?

Note that it does not come with a circular saw so that it's an extra cost.
