Opinions on Table Saw
Hello,
A common them with the shed is there is never enough room. In my case part of the double garage has been claimed by the kids, some by swmbo and also a need for general storage. The amount left for woodwork and other serious endeavours is not much.
I do not have enough room for a full size table saw. I was looking at some of the smaller portable types. I have discounted the Makita MLT100due to some comments previously made on this forum. I am looking at a DeWalt 744-XE

Another option is the Carbatec contractor saw CTJ-650. The table size is fine however the rails which extend beyond the table are too long. Cut the rails? This will leave me with a saw which is about the same size as the DW.
Pros
DW – Compact, portable, telescopic rails, rack & pinion fence system seems good.
CT – Cast iron top vs DW cast Aluminium, more solid construction 90kg vs 30kg
Do I have any other options which I have over looked?
Any opinion?
In regards to the type of work it will be used for. I am weekend warrior, the work may be a box, some cupboards/shelving (for the aforementioned storage), hall table etc.
Sorry for the long post.

The rails are for the fence to travel on , If you cut them off you are going to restrict the size of material you may want to cut.
Better to claim back some space .

Hi Kev,
Yes I would loose about 40cm of travel, it would be a shame.
At this stage I can not claim back space.
I have also considered the Triton, but feel I want something a step up from this.

I had the Dewalt before upgrading to a larger machine, one advantage of the dewalt is the portable stand which is available.
Anytime I wanted to use it I just set it up in the backyard where there was space to work.
The dewalt can also take a dado blade, not sure if the other saw you are looking at can. I was very happy with the dewalt but wanted a saw that I could fit an Incra fence to.
