Durden
Grandad5
I have the forum on I-spy when I am in the office and when things pop up that spark my interest I open them so it was a surprise to see an old post.
I have since given the durden to my BIL and as far as I know is still going strong with the same blade.Don't force it, use a bigger hammer.
Timber is what you use. Wood is what you burn.

Hi Rat52,
I tried to find the forum where you ask questions about the forum itself and couldn't find it.
So I'll ask here.
How does the I-Spy function work?
I've seen the link but couldn't work out what I was seeing so just use the New Post one. That one I can figure out.

Hi Jim,
My firewood saw bench has got a 30 in blade held by a RH thread nut and I had the same concerns as you re the nut undoing, blade coming off and me becoming split down the middle.
My late father in law was a partner in a sawmill 50 odd years ago and he assured me that if the nut comes loose the blade will stop turning.
Regards,
Geoff.

Thanks Geoff,
I can visualise how that would be the case.
Regardless, I think it's a good example of the need for a "Bump" stop that you can hit with your knee to shut down.
Reckon I'd want that thing turned off pronto like if the blade stopped spinning.Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections....

Yes I've got a BIG red off button below the bench top I can get at with my left hand, but the inertia of a blade that size takes a while to stop spinning.
My father in law pointed out that RH or LH thread is irrelevant because when you build your own saw bench you can orient it either way to suit your handedness or where the drive is located.

durden pacemaker
Hi all. I hope this doesn't hijack the thread but I am able to buy a durden pacemaker 10'" with the planer on the side. My question is how much would I expect to pay for it? I think the bloke might want about $600.
thanks
Frank

If it is in good working condition $600 would be fair
