I would still go for the 50" fence, 750mm is not much of a fence for such a superb saw.

Personally I wouldn't be without my 50" fence, have used it for over 750mm cross cuts a lot of times already (and that includes the 1000mm extension wing I made).

In fact the whole setup works so well that I'm even starting to wonder whether I'll ever use the Triton Sliding Extension table that I adapted to work with my tablesaw!

    Sorry only just saw your post. 50" - $3500, 30" $3300. $200 difference seems reasonable I guess.

I've finshed a layout diagram of my new workshop and have room for the 50" fence. Since I'm supposed to be buying the last saw I'll ever need, I may as well go for the 50" fence

Spoke to Gary Pye, and he wants $3500 for the 50" fence pm2000. That's the same price as Gregory machinery, so it doesn't look like he's undercutting anyone by hundreds of $$ anymore. Saturday's the big day so we'll see what I end up with.

I think you will find it is the other way around. The competition realised that there was real competition. Gregory's weren't interested in talking about prices when I bought mine. What you have been quoted sounds about right to me.

You won't regret it. I assure you.

    I'm sure I won't be dissappointed

Although I've just come in from the workshop trying to rip down some nice soft pine on my bandsaw, and I've decided that my cheap chinese bandsaw is utter crap and I need to replace it. If I bought the jet 10" cabinet saw instead of the powermatic, that'd give me some money for a bandsaw...god it never ends

    Re the price comparison.

I bought my pm2000 last september from Major Equipment in Sydney. I paid $3200 for the 30" fence version - price included a Freud blade and delivery.

    It's fantastic.

(I wanted the 50", but I couldn't get it at the time I wanted it, so went with the 30". It's done everything I wanted it to.)

My opinion of the Carbatec clone is that it is the best thing since sliced bread, especially at the price I paid ($1995 delivered).

If the PM2000 is better than the clone, it has to be an awesome machine.

I think you will find that most of the Jet dealers are very coy about prices, something to do with building a mystique around the brand perhaps?
What's the model number of the carbatec clone? Is it the TS-10L 1PH? If so, did you get the optional table board & legs?

I got a price on the PM 2000 in Melbourne last month which was closer to $4K than $3K.

My experience in the past with Gregory Machinery was pretty good - I got a 10 inch Jet at below market price, including delivery to Alb-Wondoga, but didn't check with Gary Pye.

I've run out of room in the 16 by 9 m shed and will have to wait for the extension before embarking on the next TS purchase, which I think will be the PM 2000. Assuming the mitre guage is up to scratch.
