What will the price be after Xmas???
After reading Graeme's thread and talking to a few people I convinced SWMBO that the CTH-110R in the Carbatec Xmas catalogue was an absolute bargain and I should buy it now.
Rang Carbatec Sydney and Brisbane today but unfotunately there are none left but the guy say's there are plenty of left tilt.... Well get this! Normal price printed in the catalogue was $1,795, Sale price $1,395, How much today $2,395. "I can buy a Jet for that" said I. "Pigs rear end" said the nice man on the other end.Cheers,
Howdya

I haven't seen that catalogue, but from what you say the regular and sale price are for the right-tilt model, which no longer appears on their website (at least not for Brisbane). The left tilt model is apparently very different, much heavier build.
But that's no excuse for their rudeness. Lucky you found out how they treat people BEFORE you handed over the cash.

Howdya,
I somehow feel that it is still a buyer's market and will be for some time. Those companies can put up their prices because of: exchange rates, cost of steel or whatever but no one seems to have any $s apart from those young mums with a few kids and a grand for each one of them. They don't want to buy a tablesaw.
It will be Carbatec and companies like that who will need to attract buyers or they will have no turnover (cashflow).
(And did anyone notice the cost of imported high-end tools going down when our dollar was at it's peak?)

Did you consider the Carbatec TS 10L - a much better machine with a true riving knife and a bigger table and bigger rip capacity?

Or the TTD contractors saw ? Whisper quiet, 12"/90mm cutting depth, all cast iron and roller bearings, taiwanese not chinese...and a router extension wing all for $790 or whatever it was ?
People are going to get sick of me recommending it aren't they ?I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

It's on p84 of their print catalogue. A real shame if it is discontinued. I know a few forum members had to wait a few months earlier in the year to get their hands on one.

Had a look at that website. It worries me a bit that it hasn't been updated since 30/10/08. Also suspect that even if they have stock the freight from Melbourne to Brisbane will kill the deal, but we'll see.

I just got off the ph with Carbatec in Bris. The bad news is that until our dollar improves globally, they wont be brining any in. They said, "no one will be willing to pay what they will need to charge". Good news is that they are not discontinued, just paused indefinetly.

Yeah, I saw that. And drooled for a while. Then drooled some more...
But reality bit, and I ended up getting the TSC10-HB demo machine. Still a pretty good deal at the price I think, especially since it includes the 50" rails. They are even arranging delivery at a very good price, so I can hardly wait to get it (end of Jan).
