Hello all me again
I am in the market for a cheap Table saw i'm not going to be building a house any time soon so all it will be doing is hobby stuff like building a chair, tables, coffee tables etc.
My budget is under $500.

The only thing you will get that is any good at that price is patience, what I mean is don't rush in, just keep your eyes on the second hand market.
I had a triton mk3 for years, oh it was okay and served me well but for I later bought a nice second hand "Jet" for $500. and to be quite honest I don't want to have to use a triton ever again.
Remember too that all the time it takes to find your second hand bargain - you will be learning more about the things every day.

Yeah, I got a nice hafco 10" contractor's saw, that I am very happy with. But it took a lot of patience.

What do you call half descent?
For me half descent means that it can cut accurately and safely without too much fiddling.
As for how much it will cost, who knows the answer to that one? it may be a thousand dollars for something nearly new, you may be lucky and score one for five hundred, or then again the gods could be really smiling and it may fall in your lap.
Where, once again who knows, the classified ad's, ebay or just asking locally.
As I said before don't rush and use the time to get yourself well informed. there is plenty of info' on this forum.

hi cub, i have a makita 10 inch tablesaw, model no 2703.
i do not use it now, i upgraded and bought a festool table saw(cms).
it has been sitting quietly in the corner of the garage for 2 years now, i really liked it, and was'nt really keen on selling it, but it's not making me any money sitting there, so if you are keen, i would sell it for $600.
it is like new condition, very little scratches, plastic still has that new glossy look.
it works perfectly, no broken bits at all.
i will throw in the 50mm dust connector which steps down to connect to a 27mm or 36mm vacuum hose.
p.s. i paid $1050, in 2005.
i can blow the dust off it and take a few photos if you are interested....
regards, justin.
