They do come in smaller slider - the SCM's online brochure only have them available in 3.2m, but they are available in 2.2m, 3.2m and 3.8m.

Again, SCM's website/info on their machines are very limited especially the L'Invincibile line - there is less information on SCM website compare to their Class/Nova/Minimax range - You'd think you're spending more money there should be more info, but NO..... in some instance you get more information from second hand dealer who try to sell them.

I have seen the L'Invincibile saw in person when I visited SCM a while back (also bump into a guy who runs a business with almost everything in L'Invincibile), I know what to expect, the good and the bad.

    Default Your SCM L'Invincible advice

    Hi Albert,

I'm now in a similar position to the one you were in - making a choice between SCM's SI3 and Felder's Kappa 550. Theoretically the Kappa 450 would have suited me but it has a smaller screen and the software on the 450 is limited to x-motion programs - you have to go to the 550 or 590 to get the e-motion/plus software.

After having the SCM machine for a period, are there any insights good or bad that you can offer?

    Cheers

in theory Felder is a better saw, but you need to see it and put your hand on both of them to appreciate the quality of the L'Invincibile series.

I am not too fussed about software, I havnt used much of the software ability on my si X, ( am too busy) apart from the usual parallel fence movement or angled cut.

a few things that could be the "bad":
    1. the touch screen does not swivel, the angle of the screen is fixed, you can swing it but you can not swivel it on the si X
    2. you need air to run the panel saw
    3. take about 2 minute to turn on the si X.

    The good
Other than that, the saw is a 1128kg monster, you can throw anything at it, SCM's online information does not do the machine justice AT ALL.
Also if I want to, I can buy a longer carriage in the future, its about 10k Euro, I doubt Felder can do this with their saw. 10k Euro may sound crazy for the slider carriage but the base machine itself cost 45k Euro excl tax and shipping.

The elderly gentleman who came out to setup the saw was a very experienced technician, gave me a superb session on calibrating and trouble shooting the saw (not that it needs calibration at all). he prefers working with SCM machine, said its easier to work on.

    Default SCM Advice

    Hi Albert,

Many thanks for taking the time to reply given you're busy. Both machines are of high quality and I doubt there are any issues with either but it was worth checking so thanks for confirming the quality of the L'invincible.

    Cheers

all good. I am sure you cant go wrong with either of these saws. but I strongly recommend checking them out in person before making your decision, if not possible then at least do thorough research, youtube, various user groups etc, its not $50 but $50k+.
