so I can 100% say the dial a dado fits the sawstop with the saw stop dado brake and works fine, so as you mention the problem must not be with fitment but with the actual stopping.
this will be a judgement call on your self if you can live with the possibility that should the worst it MAY not work as intended.

Exactly!
I had a near bad accident on my previous table saw and luckily I only needed stitches. It was a wake up call. I sold it and bought the Sawstop purely for its safety mechanism and I've made myself strictly follow a few added safety rules. No matter how experienced you are an accident can happen. I'm NOT buying a blade or a dado stack that won't stop in the appropriate amount of time. So I follow all of Sawstop's recommendations. .The added bonus is that Sawstop is a great saw apart from that safety mechanism.

Thanks Barri, much appreciated! It solves my confusion. The enclosed list is most informative.
Cheers,
