Can't see why anyone would bother putting a non standard thread into something as generic as a tablesaw, what do they gain? Surely they wouldn't think that they were going to make a fortune by stocking a special batch of grubscrews to sell as spare parts.

It's actually a machine screw (bolt) and a nut, not a grub screw. The design goes back over 30 years to when the Taiwanese first started making woodworking equipment so who knows what was going on then.

by the way. On my saw, the collets that lock the tilt and height adjustment rods in place both have grub screws in them that match the thread into the casting's base to lock the bushing in place. That's where I stole one from to get back working. And because my machine was missing a bolt/grub screw, I couldn't comment on what was needed in that place - grub screw working ok so far

HThis company has an Allen headed bolt plus a Nyloc nut you could cut/grind the nylon section off

I don't know where all these weird sizes originate from as I see they also have M6 x 1.75 capscrews and even M3 x 1.75
