Default Repeated ripping long thin strips on a slider

I have been looking for a way to batch out a bunch of repeated thin strip cuts on my slider. Ultimately I want to cut up a bunch of old reclaimed (from our house) decking boards to make wine cellar racking with horizontal strips half lapped onto vertical supports.

    I have an SCM Lab300P with a slider with a 1600mm stroke.

Searching, I found this work of art from Derek and whilst it looks like it would do what I want it also feels like a lot of clamping and unclamping. Updated Parallel Guide for K3 slider

I'd probably be repeatedly cutting strips 20mm wide. Would this solution above be the best option? or am I missing something very simple? I am wondering if I am better off breaking them down on the band saw and running them through the thicknesser instead.

    Cheers

How to build a Fritz and Franz jig for champions for a sliding table saw - YouTube

He shows ripping thin strips at about 7 minutes in but the secret is the F&F jig he makes. You don't need the measuring system, two plain blocks will do the job.

    Hi Vovo

The parallel guide has replace the Fritz and Frans jig. It is like a F&F on steroids!

To understand this, it developed from a rough jig I put together to rough cut 2" wide legs for a stools i was building. The following is an extract from my write up on my website ...

"I made a simple fixture for production ripping the legs on the slider …

Later, I built a version of this with an adjustable parallel guide fence. This will rip any width and also taper legs.

Below is an example in ripping a leg: first to desired width, and then it is possible to incline the parallel guide to saw a taper ...

This is an example of safely ripping a 25mm/1" wide board ...

A simple Fritz and Franz jig build is described here and a way to support thin stuff when ripping here

I found I had to supplement the F&F with the long rip support when cutting 20mm strips recently off pallet wood boards. I just pushed the whole support plywood and long board to be ripped across to the rip fence (set short of the blade and to the required width) after each cut. No reclamping of anything required.

There is another jig I've seen described somewhere for ripping boards longer than the slider travel, say rip a 2m board on a 1.6m stroke slider.

Thanks all, that's a great start.

    Comprehensive replies as usual.
