Not long ago there was post from a member who was using slotted riving knife and it struck the blade and the blade tore it out of the slots and fired it at the member and managed to embed it into his shoulder. I would remake the knife with holes and locate it at an average position and live with it.
    Thanks, Bobl.

Well, the long slots are not open at the end. To remove or change the riving knife two M8 screws must be removed completely.

This is the factory riving knife on my Felder BF6-31. Slotted all the way, but fastened securely. I am fairly relaxed about this since I am never aligned with the blade, but I take your point. Since Felder has to comply with rigorous EU safety standards I will check to see if they still do this.

The locking mechanism (large double hole steel washer/plate) and shorter slots on the Welder looks pretty well impossible to defeat. I was referring to long slots and just a screw head holding a riving knife on. An extra large washer may be all that would be required to ensure safety.

Here's the link to the incident I was referring to
    speared with his riving knife

Thanks a lot, Bobl - a scary video, and not just because of the accident. The saw also does not look really trustworthy to me.
Anyways, you certainly gave me something to think about - I will add a rectangular plate on the side where the screws are, and replace the screws with high-tensile screws.
