Router table fitted to TSC-10HB
In the attached photo below, can anyone please tell me if the rails alone ( to the right of the table as shown) are strong enough to hold a 32mm MDF router table and large Trition 2400w router, without any additional support?
If not, what is the recommended method of support, esp where the MDF meets the cast iron RH extension table
regards,
Jill

Most commercial router table extensions also bolt to the saw table.
Maybe use some lag bolts through the table into the MDF or route some pockets that you can then house nuts and then use nuts and bolts.

Here are some picks of the factory router extension.
Four bolts into the saw table and one into each rail.

When I bought my saw it came with a cast extension router table. I mounted it on the rails side, that position stops the motor door opening. if you drop a nut down when changing a blade it becomes a pita. So I mounted on the other end, if you need to change the angle of the saw the router is in the way, and if you need to use the saw while routing all the router fences needed moving out of the way another pita.
So I made a router table and all the problems went away.

Jill, I'm sure the supports would hold an MDF top and router.
However, I'm with Les ... far better to put the MDF top on a separate stand.
I used the router table extension that came with the 10HB. Worked fine, but the noise was really amplified by all the metal. Drove my whole family out of the house when I used it!
A good router table doesn't need to be flash to work well, as this thread attests.

Convinced!
You guys have convinced me to make a separate router table, on wheels that can be moved around. I was already of the view that the table saw and the router table extension would be far too big for my little shed. Better to have two units easily moved around.
I love your minimalist approach, Tex, has made me rethink a bit.

Jill
