Default Sher Power Tool 12" Table Saw, Manual

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone may be able to help me out.
Any idea where I might be able to get a copy of an owners manual for a "Sher Power Tool Model No MJ-2331, 12" Table Saw"
I am missing the splitter and/or riving knife, and I cannot find a lock button or whatever to stop the blade spindle from spinning to take the nut off so I can change the blade. There are no check outs on the back of the spindle behind the blade for a spanner, either, it is completely round.
Does anyone have a link for a downloadable PDF file?

The pictures below uploaded sideways, no idea why that is!
But, does anybody know what that bolt with the plastic handle is for? The one above the raising/lowering wheel.
I've wound it both clockwise and anti clockwise and I cannot tell if it makes a difference to anything...
    Cheers.

    Bill.

you normally push the handle in to "engage" what ever it turns, the spring pushes it back out so it just free spins

you'll probably find you need to push the handle in
    turn it clock wise
    release the handle back out
    spin it anti clock wise
    push it back in
    turn clock wise
    repeat

kind of like a ratcheting motion to get it to do its job

    Cheers, havabeer69.
It's actually the opposite, push against spring and it free spins over the thread, release and it sits over the head of the bolt to turn it.
As I said in my post, I've done this and still have no clue what it does, and can't see through the cast iron to what it turns.
My main issue though is, I can't stop the shaft from turning to get blade off.
I put a small screwdriver in the dust hole in the blade and got about 3 turns and the blade was loose enough to spin freely, but the nut isn't finger loose and the whole threaded shaft now spins with the nut!

i wonder if that little handle just locks the height adjustment.

any chance of getting some pictures of the arbor with the insert plate out? also double check there isn't a hex head or similar socket on the threaded end of the arbor that you're meant to use to hold it in place.

To loosen the spindle nut to remove the saw blade, common practice is to get a piece of timber (large enough) to jam the blade against the block and against the saw table. Then its just a matter of getting a spanner to undo the nut IT COULD BE A LEFT HAND THREAD. It may sound barbaric but its a proven method for blade removal

To tighten up the nut when you want to change the blade use the block method but hold it against the teeth while you turn the nut. AND there is no need to put a huge amount of force into the nut just firm is plenty. With a left hand thread the nut will actually get tighter due to the centrifugal force when in use
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Not entirely sure about the height adjustment, but I didn't notice any difference with it tightened or loosened, to be honest.
Will get some photos this afternoon and upload.
    Cheers, mate👍🏽

    Hi, chambezio

It's a normal thread, unfortunately I can't use the "old block of wood" method as I've already loosens the nut some and the blade now spins on the shaft, and won't hold diddly squat now!

Thanks for the suggestion though 👍🏽

To remove the now loose nut.....use a piece of wood to sit on the pulley of the spindle and then raise the blade until it "jams" the table top. That should hold the spindle while you remove the nut.
When you get it apart inspect the threads in the nut and on the spindle for any sort of damage. (you could use a file to rub any burrs or bruises to the threads) You should be able to finger tighten the nut then use a spanner
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

I'd pinch the belt on the motor to see if you can get enough grip to undo the nut.

How did you originally put the blade on?

I'm going to assume what ever that little handle tightens is no longer working and possibly time to have a look from underneath or take the table off to see whats going on

I agree with havabeer69, pinch the belt with a rope or strap to hold the shaft. Might also be worth using an impact driver on the nut to rattle it off.

    Cheers for your help, fellas.
It's a new/second hand bit of kit and needed to put a new blade on.
I used a lump of wood as "chambezio" suggested, thanks man.
That little handle is on a long bolt that goes into the cast iron and disappears into the nether world... (no idea)
I would love to find someone who has one of these, to pick their brains about it. I cannot even get one hit on this brand of table saw,
I got hits on drill presses, band saws and a thicknesser/planers, but no table saw mention at all!

Appreciate all your suggestions, and if anyone reads this and has one or a manual, please get in touch.
I lost the contact info for the guy I bought it from.

Hi BB. I have the 10" version of the same saw. And I also have not been able to work out what that handle does. I bought mine 2nd hand some time ago and realised that Hare and Forbes (Dandenong) sold the same machine with their badge on it. I have a copy of an owner's manual that is actually for the 12" but there isn't necessarily much useful in it. I will try to find it. I have always used the block of wood trick to loosen the nut. Mine has a 3hp motor, plenty enough grunt.

    Morning, Mountain Ash,

I'd really appreciate that, hope you can find it!
Yes, plenty of power and loud, sounds like a jet taking off...
The only info I could find on anything Sher, was that back in the day Skill bought them out.
And no luck contacting them either, no reply.

"havabeer 69" suggested that little turn bolt might be a height adjustment stop, so I went and had another suss at it yesterday and loosened it right off, turned on the saw cut some scrap and sure enough it had dropped about 10mm, set the blade again, tightened that turn bolt and the blade stayed set.
    Cheers for that @havabeer 69

    Thanks mate,
    Bill.
