Source for Robland X 260 parts?
Hi all, I'm almost new to the site as i've only just introduced myself recently. I'm not a very experienced woodworker either, i'm just getting into the fine working side of things with a view to gradually going professional. I do have quite a lot of DIY and modelling experience using wood machinery. Please excuse my opening with a request for information.
I have a UK specification (i'm in ireland) LX 260 Robland combination machine bought around 1999 (a long story in itself as the then importer went belly up after i'd paid for an LX 310 - it took a UK visit, i was lucky to get any machine at all, and a refund wasn't an option) which i'm in the process of improving with a fence upgrade and so on.
I'm trying to buy a longer saw spindle/shaft to take an 8 inch dado cutter. I contacted Laguna Tools (the US Robland guys) as these cutters have not until recently been available around here (here now, others too: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...s-discs-sheets ), and my machine has a short shaft. There seems to be nobody supporting Robland seriously in the UK - just lots that will order parts if you can say what you want.
Laguna came back to say Robland can't supply as the machine has been discontinued, and Robland no longer hold any parts for it. This surely can't be the case, there's gazillions of the things out there. Can it?????
Is it the dado cutter that's the problem, or is it possibly about sales territories? Surely they must be carrying parts for the US market??
I've since sorted the fence issues (i hope) with an Incra TS LS fence positioning system, but would really like to get my hands on the longer saw spindle shaft. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello,
I have recently bought a robland Z250 which also
is discontinued from HOMAG and before i bought it
i asked about parts and they said they still supply
parts but don't sell the machines anymore.
You can try HOMAG UK and see if they still
deal with Robland or know who else sells them.

Thank you RnR. One issue is that availability of a longer dado compatible spindle in the UK may be an issue, but i'll give it a try.
Dado cutters were not used there, i think for H&S reasons dating back to some of the dodgier set ups in use years ago.
On the other hand i see that the likes of Machine Mart in the UK is now selling the 8 inch Freud dado sets...
