Default ST-12D 1" Arbor where to buy?

    Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone had any experience finding a 1" arbor adapter for the ST-12D table saw from Hare and Forbes. See pic below for the 30mm arbor adapter it comes fitted with standard. (30mm is the bigger end).

    30mm st12d arbor.jpg

The manual for the ST-12D states it comes with a 1" arbor and so does the spares list, but Hare and Forbes obviously never update any of their OEM materials. They also don't seem very keen to help but have fired off an email to the OEM which will apparently take awhile.

I 'think' i might be able to source one from Grizzly in the US but wanted to check if i could get it in Australia first.

I suspect Grizzly may have the exact same part as the G5959 looks the same and the arbor threads screwing into the machine seems to be UNF 5/8" with 18 TPI, implying that the OEMs designed it (or copied) originally for the folks in the US.

Any help in locating one would be much appreciated. Impatient to use the Forrest blades i bought!

    Regards,
    Nick

Can't help with the question but beware the part pictured, whoever supplies it. The 1" thread is not properly cut, or a huge amount has been ground off in final grinding. Assuming a 60 degree thread profile, (common for metric and US threads) the thread should be deeper by almost the width of the flats between threads. From the look of it that part has only about half of the required thread depth, and will be very hard on the matching nut.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

Ah sorry, might have confused things, that picture is the 30 mm arbor the ST-12D comes supplied standard with. I posted a picture in case people are wondering what i am talking about.

Good point on the threads though, i just assumed they are all like that.

It actually looks like it is supplied pre-stripped doesn't it?

You can have the arbor hole enlarged fairly easily, Henry Bros would be a good start. Don't forget the washer if you order the arbor. I just had a look at my book and it definitely is specified at one inch, strange.

Isn't that a square thread on the left end?

    Update:

    No dice from Grizzly.

They are unwilling to provide pictures of the part/ measurements.

Might just have to bite the bullet and buy it and hope it fits.
