i have seen them for $69US about $73AD and if im not mistaken Gabbett said $200
i stand corected on the 200 but i dont know how its justified when its sold for 69 in the US and the company selling at that is still making profit.
if i deside to get 1 i will buy a backup cartridge just in case and replace it from the states
while im typing this im thinking this is a bit excessive i just want a good table saw. thinking powermatic,but ill wait till after the show

The $200 included a new saw blade as your saw blade will be stuffed after the cartridge goes bang..
I think the cartridge was about $100 but you would need to ask Brendan.
There was an offer that if you set it off and you met certain criteria then they would get a freeby.. I think it related to it saving your body parts and you were willing to say so in advertising but I could be wrong.
Again I repeat PM rudigar (Brendan) and he will be happy to answer any questions about it (he sells them for Gabbet, so you will be getting it from the horses mouth)I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

i wonder how long that would take, do they have to find some human flesh?
im thinking if you wait for this your saw would be out of action for a good while as im sure this process would be done in the states....

I don't understand the purpose of this thread - there has been so much discussion about this already recently. Either you want the SawStop feature or you don't. The quality of the saw itself is not in question.
If you were to buy one (and they are not cheap), you'd buy a spare cartridge when you are talking about a $5000 saw, what's another $100 if you are so concerned about the saw being out-of-action after an activation?

I've seen it, actually got to set it off.
When it goes off changing the cartridge takes about 30 seconds on top of the blade changeing time.Cheers,

i like the idea of the sawstop mechanism its just a real pitty they are so damn expensive. You can pick up the same quality tablesaw for under $2k, an extra $3+k just for a safety feature is damn hard to swallow even if it is such a fine safety feature.
That is until it saves u a finger for the first time......
Still $5k ffs.....

Hard one to answer - define a 'false activation'. If you set it off by carelessly allowing contact between the sawblade and a tape measure (for example), then that would not be considered a 'false activation'.
If you were merrily cutting timber and the thing went off, then it is obviously faulty and would be replaced.
The cartridge records information from its final few seconds of use and that information is retrievable by SawStop. It is possible for them to determine if it was activated by human contact, or by something else.
I don't know what the turn-around time of this would be, but I would suggest that we could supply with a free cartridge from here and if the test came back saying that you'd set it off by using the saw to try and cut your way into your neighbours safe then you could pay us $100. If it comes back that it saved your fingers, then keep it for nix.
The show is next weekend. I will have some snags, but feel free to bring along some cooked ones so that we can snack on something whilst we natter.
