your right about the sliding table, it's got to be long but at the same time solid and built in a way that it does not interfere to much with the standing position of the user...the sliding table on my saw protrudes rearwards from the left side, which means i'v got to stand directly behind the blade, dangerous place to be,and i kept hitting my hip on it all the time, i ended up cutting that whole section off so i could stand on the left of the blade , but it of cause has restricted the cutting width, which is fine for my work so i don't mind, some how though a wooden crosscut sled would be better...

design of a sliding table is something few manufactures get right...
7.5hp!!!! I'd start her up and the lights would dim in Macedon!!!!
Great saw, probably a bit over the top, but she is a beauty....

I've email Delta to check about international shipping or local agents as Carbatec appear to have stopped selling them.

Think I'm moving away from the Panel Saw option and focusing on a really good cabinet saw, I'll build something to work with panels....

Their has been talk here recently about the Martins, Felders and Altendorfs ect as being the best, which is true. But they come into their own if you handle sheet goods or trim lots of table tops or make kitchens, but are way over the top and unessasary for fine furniture work, but excelent for jointing boards for tables.

But for 98% in this forum a good table/cabinet saw is whats best. And by far the rolls royce is the Delta 36-790. With a masive 1100 x 1500mm table (that is big) and over 600kg and 7.5 hp and can handle a 16" blade and made in America not Tiawan or China, its my dream machine, and as soon as i get lucky in my dreams and score a big order, i just cant wait to be the lucky owner of one. It will be the heart and soul of all i do

    All that space..... lucky B@*~>}#!

Im not going to say Delta, but some of their top end cabinet saws are nice.
With single phase I'd have a good look at Powermatic. Really good machines, great fit and finish. Will give you trouble free running for years. Powermatic can be used in prodution work, no worries. A lot of their saws are made in USA, not china or Taiwan if thats of any worth to You.
    Cheers. Gary.

If you want new and not secondhand and 3K is your budget, then id go with Garrys advice and get a powermatic. A great saw and investment that will give you trouble free use for years and years.
