FWIW, the big problem that the Woodworking Warehouse is getting to keep the Supersaw in stock - they sell that quickly.
There is an upgraded model coming shortly apparently....don't know anything about it, but I am really looking closely these days. (Better fence is one thing I heard)
BTW, the sliding table isn't MDF - it is cast iron."Clear, Ease Springs"

A Big Thank You
I have just spent the last couple of hours reviewing all that has been said about table saws, brands and the little things that make them just right for you. (all 6 pages)
I am just in the process of selecting a table saw for myself and really appreciate all of the comments, suggestions and specifications listed.
I just wanted to say a big Thank You to all who have contributed to this discussion, particularly Big Shed for the spreadsheet.
I will spend another couple of hours going back over everything that has been said as ... let's face it...I'm still confused, but the budget will certainly help in limiting the options.
Again thanks... ...it's nice to listen to people who not only have a passion for what they do, but know how to do it.

Thanks BS
Watching, watching, watching ..and the winner is....?????
Yeah all right I've been lurking too but I'm on the looking/buying end like you so couldn't contribute to the experience and I like you am also couple of hours from the big smoke. I left Bendigo 2 yrs ago after 8 yrs ... got sick of looking at the great Victorian Desert. Has that last rain hit you guys as well?
So thanks for doing all the run around and stimulation of conversation.
My needs are narrowing the field a lot more so as I'd like to be able to handle full sized (8x4) sheets of particle board/mdf so am looking for a sliding table that can cross cut 1220 but don't think I can go to panel saw prices
I think I am looking at the 2325 or equivalent with the slider ($1300-$1800).
Jet with slider would be about $3300 and still would give me the 1220 cc capacity.
As I'm over in the West I did notice the flash yellow one that Carbatec has and I'd like to know what it can do but I think it's the same as the 2325 with slider as per tc and h&f but sits half way between the prices but no specs on web site ... but it is yellow
If anyone has any other suggestions under $2k that can xcut 1220 on a slider I'd be keen to know (OK and doesn't scream like a Circ saw mounted upside down ... I'm there now and want to move on)
As I'm going to add a BS (that needs to have a depth of cut of at least 250mm) to the bill I'm going to try to keep the total to under $3k.

Jet with slider (and the cabinet version of the Supersaw) is $2300....but perhaps the extra thousand is a WA price?

the JTAS 10XL will meet your requirements at about $2700 plus freight.
You don't need worry about the hassle of a sliding table that way.

Arr ... Stuart I might have been wrong about the price must have been $2300 not $3300 but the $2300 version will only xcut about 730mm ... more than half of an 8x4 sheet but not good enough.
Spartan ... the XL might have a nice long capacity fence but you still have to try to push a whole sheet over a fixed table and about double the price of the 2325 with a slider
... thanks for the suggestions but unless I'm missing something Jet just haven't got something in this niche. (It was my first consideration)
.. any other suggestions?Ramps

Personally, I think that sliders are over rated. I'm sure others will swear by them however.
When I was doing all my research and leg work I couldn't find too many people who thought they were a 'must have' - in fact most of the sales staff I spoke to said that they were more trouble than they were worth.
It was an interesting debate at my place - my BIL is an old cabinet maker and swore by sliders. But interestingly enough all the ones we looked at he said 'that's crap!'. He was used to sliding panel saws that cost 10x what most home hobby types want to pay.
In the end, I think regardless of what saw you buy, building some good outfeed support tables is a good option. That way they can double as an assembly bench, cupboard space and still be set on castors.
MY plan is to increase my table surface to 1930 x 1500. I can do this by adding an outfeed table that will cost about $150 to make on my new saw.....Did I mention that I have a new saw.
As far as pushing sheets on a fixed table. I cut six heavy full length sheets on my saw on the weekend. The only problem I had was getting them on the table - which would have been an issue with a sliding table. I was quite suprised at how well the sheets moved across the table.
Any mate, good luck with it all. All of the popular saws you've mentioned will no doubt make you more than happy and a devote follower of that particular line of equipment.....ps. buy a JET

Hey Big shed ... the suspense is killing me ... it's early next week already ... WHAT IS IT??
Ok I'm sure we can wait another day
Thanks Spartan. I was wondering about getting those big sheets onto one of those weenie sliders, I'll re-evaluate (the Jet)

I called into Carbatec on the way home last night to have a look at the Perform 250mm Sliding Table Saw. I was very impressed, huge table area (in comparison to my current sliding saw), the sliding table mechanisim can be adjusted to take 1200mm. The only disappointment was the 10" blade, but who knows maybe a 12" can be made to fit.
Anyway I'll be loading up my current sliding table bench saw on Saturday and going to Carbatec to see what they'll give as a trade-in.
Whats the bet, if I was to buy one now I will see them at the fourthcoming wood show on special show prices.
As I was driving home I thought if I purchase it how am I going to get it past the wife... I know "Dear I'm going to upgrade my saw". At this stage it has worked, we'll see what happens when she see a bright yellow thing sitting in the shed instead of the dull blue saw bench.
