Default Which table saw: Dewalt 7491-XE or Sherwood 10" job site equivalent

These saws appear very similar. I see plenty of (very positive) reviews for the 2000W Dewalt but no reviews at all for the 1500W Sherwood.

The Sherwood is available via Timbecon for $999 and the Dewalt is available from Total Tools for $1273.

I managed to see an assembled Dewalt in the shop, but without the fence, but I've not yet located a Sherwood to view up close.
I do recall a comment or two about how noisy the Dewalt is but maybe the Sherwood is similar. It's for hobby use only so won't be used all day every day like in a professional's workshop.

Is the dust collection better on one or the other, is the fence on one better than the other, ease of changing blades, dado blades use, etc, etc ?
Any recommendations on one over the other?

    Hi
This topic has been well covered quite recently

Beginner stuck deciding on first table saw purchase

    spot the difference

It seems the sherwood is fairly new to the market so probably no reviews yet

I bought the DW7491 a couple of months ago - before the sherwood was released but I still think I'd opt for the DW

    good luck with your research

Yes, I've seen both of those threads Hodgo but none of the questions I have are addressed.

I checked them both out in person on my recent search and I didn't really notice much difference between them in how they looked or felt, although in saying that I looked at them on different days so I wasn't exactly looking closely back and forth, and I didn't get to turn them on or use them at all.

The DeWalt is obviously the more "trusted" machine but one thing to remember that any single machine from any manufacturer could have issues, so ease of finding repairs/returning to manufacturer could be a consideration. I'd imagine it'd be easier to find and order individual parts for the DeWalt but it could also be easier to take an entire machine to Timbecon to exchange it if you're local.

Between the ~1k Jobsite offerings I was basically set on getting the Sherwood, but in the end my partner insisted I get the SawStop CTS instead.

How do you find the cts?
Same quandary, dewalt (currently on special) or sawstop. (not on special so a lot dearer). To be shared between my sons and I. As stand has no wheels, and is exorbitantly priced, and the saw is heavier.
One son says it won't be used heavily so the risk is low, but my view is tending to less familiarity means more risk.
(and I'll be the one paying most of the difference...

Sawstop CTS has been great so far but I'm very much a beginner so don't have much experience with different size/quality saws to give much of a useful opinion. As far as the price goes yeah it does kind of sting a bit knowing the Hikoki C10JR is essentially the same saw for $800 less which could have gone towards a thicknesser and jointer, but in a way it's also hard to justify not buying one. No one plans to have an accident, anyone can have one at any time and the Sawstop is essentially health insurance, you're paying to protect yourself from the rare chance that something happens. I pay $1k a year for my HBF cover, a one time $800 "Sawstop tax" is definitely worth it by that comparison.

That safety feature seems like a good thing ,there's a very high chance that you wont injure yourself in any way, however there's no way of testing it periodically with out replacing the cartridge and wasting a perfectly good sausage

I'd be forever extremely wary of the blade as I would with any table saw for that reason

interesting to note the sawstops ripping capacity is 650mm with the DW being 825mm and the sherwood in between, the Hikoki is wider than all of them

    cheers and happy new year
