    DSS,

Some pics of your saw, the existing fence and the way the fence attaches would make it much easier for us to help.

for starters you have a LEFT tilt saw and the fence is on the LEFT side of the blade. Very much NOT a good idea.

Can you swap the bolts in the fence so the it is positioned to the right of the blade ?

I can but i want to change the fence so instead of having to undo the nut to move the fence i can just pull a lever slode it the push the lever back down

There is nothing inherently wrong with your saw that replacing the two part fence rail with a single piece extrusion won't mostly fix.

However, you will need to match the extrusion

I suspect that if you swap the fence around so that it is on the RIGHT hand side of the saw, the problem of the nut jamming will go away.

But if it doesn't I think you are up for more $$ in modifications than you paid for the saw

    This

Not trying to be rude, but it's a cheapy fence 'cos it's a cheapy saw. I think I see a Taurus label there, which is the stuff they used to sell at Aldi before Workzone; a decent blade likely costs as much as (or close to) that entire machine.

I understand people have to work to a budget, but you have to have realistic expectations about the quality you'll get for said budget.

Have a search around for "diy biesemeyer fence". My dad used to have a saw similar to your own. if we needed an accurate cut (very rare occasion, because it was just carpentry and anything within a football field is close enough ), we would clamp a straight edge to the table on both ends. worked a charm, but a major pita the two times we needed an accurate cut

The net has hundreds of home made saw fences to get ideas from. This one gives a good general idea of the principle. Only thing he has not done is make it with some adjustment to line up with the blade.
