table saw help
Hi all,
I need help with a table saw i bought second hand
was missing the motor and bracket on the back for the motor.
Was in a bad state but i cleaned it all up put a new blade and new bearings in the arbor.
I made a bracket to hold the motor that attaches on the the 2 back rods just like the real one.
But the tension on the belt holds the arbor and blade up.
I tried to lower bracket but belt rubs on the frame at the rear.
Can someone show me what holds the arbor and blade down on the screw
also how the motor is mounted on the back and what angle the belt is on
thanks
daniel

H'mm, sounds like something hasn't been put back together properly. The belt tension shouldn't have any effect on the blade rise and fall mechanism. See this thread, it sounds like your saw is the same type - Jacob 12' Table Saw - any info? In that thread there are links to a couple of other threads that will hopefully help.
If you're still flummoxed get back to us, and remember 'a picture's worth a thousand words'.

i just worked it out, i think.
It wasnt put back correctly.
I left the mitre indicator off as i didnt intend on using it.
By leaving this off the shaft that the turning dal on was able to slip in and out of the outer shaft.
So when the motor pulled on the belt the belt tensions and the arbor lifted pulling the shaft in.
I seen the action that was happening and though.
If i put a sleeve there to stop the movement it should be ok.
Searched through some buckets and seen a sleeve..... with a pointer, ah ha.
on and working.
Thanks though for the reply.

ok new problem,
when adjusting for a mitre, the blade leans toward the fence ?
pretty annoying when i need mitres on skinny parts.
Is this normal or do i own a "left handed table saw" lol.

That's normal, you own a right tilt saw. So you're talking about cutting long mitres and using the fence as the guide? Why? That will make a very weak joint. If you absolutely must some featherboards to hold the stock down on the table will help, but I would suspect there's a better way to achieve what you're trying to do.

Right, I've got it now. If you're unable to move the fence to the left side of the blade then setting up a temporary left side fence is probably the best option. Mitres for french cleats don't need to be fine woodworking standard so you should be able to get a satisfactory result.
