New table saw - movement
Hi all,
Im new to owning a table saw, so im not sure if this is normal or if i should be contacting the guy i bought it from.
I was taking the guard off tonight, to cut some trenches, and i noticed as i lifted it off there was some up and down movement of the riving knife. So i pulled the guard off full and gave the riving knife a bit of a tug, and i have about 5-10mm up down play. It is the entire assembly moving, blade arbor and all, not just the knife. This normal?
I moved the saw to its uppermost, and lowermost posistions and still get the same movement. There doesnt appear to be any play in the blade lifting mechanism.
Cheers for any tips
Pete

So the blade is going up and down as well? If so, that is crook. You won't be able to depend on the height adjustments as accurate. Also sounds a bit dangerous. Don't know that brand in particular, but my TS blade stays where I put it.
Cheers,
Bob

Definitely not normal. Call Leda in Adelaide and see if they can help. If you bought it second hand then you really have little room for argument. I doubt this would be terribly expensive to fix but without seeing it or knowing the saw mechanically, that is a guess.

Thanks for the replies.
I took the side panels off, and the play is in the arm which connects the rise/fall cog to the main assembly. Looks like the bores are too large for the bolts used?
ANyway, leda were very helpful and will hopefully call back tomorrow with a solution.
Cheers
