Which tablesaw?
This is a new posting on an old topic but as a new member would welcome your advice/input. Hope this is okay and you aren't tired of the topic! Have read previous discussions on tablesaws and they were very helpful
About to buy a tablesaw ($3k limit) but limited in what I can look at in Tassie. Have been able to look at TS250CS and MJ2325. so far. Coming to Melbourne second week in September and would like to check out more saws before I buy.
Where should I look and what saws should I be considering? Has anyone had experience with the TS250CS? Wasn't all that rapped in the fence set up although the slide table was good.
We will have a Carbatec outlet but not until later in the year or next year.

I went through a similar exercise a little while ago. Like you I don't live in a major city and it can be a bit daunting making a decision based on catalog pages!
There is a wealth of information on tablesaws on this forum, just by doing a search on tablesaw or table saw you will find quite a few hours of reading!
To kick you off, here is a link to my fact finding thread, I have put together an Excel spread sheet with the most popular tablesaws. The responses from other forum members in this thread have been most informative.
FWIW, I finished up getting the TS10L from Carbatec and have been very happy with my choice.

Thanks for that. Was a great help. Phoned Carbatec and they were very helpful and will spend some time with me when I come to Melbourne in early September.
Is the TS-12R a rebadged Jet?

I went through the process of research recently, and then visited the Perth woodshow to actually look at all the alternatives. What stood out to me was the difference in apparent quality between the Jet and the other similar saws on show from Carbatec and Timbecon. It may be that the other two companies just bought along tired floor stock that was very poorly setup (they obviously sell anyway judging by the posts here), but unlike the others the Supersaw fence ran smoothly and clamped square, the sliding table felt solid and smooth and the table was flat! I now own the Jet, and am just as impressed now I have mine home and setup. The thought behind the engineering of the machine seems sound, although not having setup the other saws, I don't know whether they are as well thought out. Cost wise, it was about $400 more than the TSC - I ended up with the open leg version rather than the cabinet style, which has the same dust extraction, just doesn't look as good on a mobile base. It's very stable, no vibration, and easy to move around for those of us with limited indoor space. I haven't found the smaller motor having a lack of power so far, and I have been cutting very old, dry hardwoods with a 60 tooth blade (ripping as well).
I hope this helps

Thanks for the info. All posts have been helpful and make me realize that I need to look at the machines in the 'flesh'. So far have been limited to net sites and brochures - they all look okay in pictures!!!!. As I said before there is only a very limited range to look at in Tassie.
Have a Leda brochure but not actually seen one. The agency for Leda in Tassie has changed and is now going to stock Carbatec gear but not for a few months as they are expanding their showroom.
The Jet certainly gets big wraps from those that have them and is definately worth a look.
Heard that there is Woodworking show in Melbourne in October. Think I will get a cheapie flight and come over and see what is on offer when I can compare them under the same roof.
Want to get a bandsaw as well so might be able to strike a deal???
