    Default Tauco Table Saw

    Hey All

I bought a 2nd hand Tauco table saw for R 500, its old but working.

It has a 250mm blade and a 2HP motor that runs at 2850 RPM that spins the blade via a Belt.

Now my question is this the motor rests on the belt and there is nothing else supporting it baring where its bolted to.

Is that normal and if not what should I do ?

It looks like the weight of the motor is used to tension the belt. Besides a lack of guarding it should be ok.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Yes it looks like it works on the same principle as the alternator on some engines where the tension of the belt can be adjusted by moving the motor on its mount and tightening the bolts that hold the motor in place. I wold imagine the assembly would have originally had some kind of safety shield or guard in place to cover the belt and pully.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John

The tension on our Woodies Club JET tablesaw is similar and only uses the weight of the motor to tension the blade.

OKay cool good, that good to know.

I did some digging on this table saw and it was based on a Rockwell/Delta design.

    Many years ago.

Its got a tunsten carbide tipped blade which is handy.
