Default Thin wall spanner for saw blade change

I have a bit of problem changing the saw blade on my carbatec contractor saw. I need a thin wall spanner to hold the blade still while I undo the nut. And I don't have a thin wall spanner of the correct size (~20 - 23mm is my guess). They don't seem to be easy to get hold of.
How do other people change saw blade on a carbatec contractor saw?

the shank of a screw driver through a gullet.

if you want to spend some money, you could get a blade changing toll like this

    Carbatech probably has them

Something I have done from time to time on my 80-100 toothed blades is clamp the blade in between a large heavy C-clamp.
This prevents the blade from turning and it holds the blade vertical while you loosen/tighten the nut and gives you something safe to hold the blade with when its being removed.

I needed a thin spanner for my grinder to change the blades. I just took the grinder to a spanner to make it thin enough.

I use a piece of brass rod through a gullet.

Made the mistake early on using a piece of pine, 12 mm thick and the tooth I had jammed broke through and the blade spun. Fortunately, no blood was spilled.

A lump of wood is all you need.

Thanks for all the tips, it was fairly easy with a block of wood as soon as I realized the arbor nut has a left handed thread. But I still like the thin wall spanner that you have woodpixel

I don't really see the need for it being so thin. It is simply stamped out of some 3mm steel.

I suspect it's thinness is due to being very cheap rather than design consideration.

Just a reminder while on the subject of changing blades.....DON"T swing on the spanner as if you were "Charles Atlas"!!! The nut just needs to be snug If you require a longer spanner to loosen the nut IT'S too tight. The same goes for bench grinders as well as drop saws/compound miter saws.
I looked after a white board cabinet shop for 8 years, the guys were good cabinet makers but awful Mechanical Engineers. Trying to educate them in the gentle art of tightening saw blades.
    was quite exhausting

I will now get off my soap box and hide it till the next time
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

I've been trying to explain that to the new guy at work about the power feed on the spindle moulder, I have to use a mallet to loosen the clamps after he's done...

Damned annoying isn't it!!! All you are doing is making the job easier for every one. I used to get so frustrated with my blokes.
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

That's because he is probably using a mallet to do them up
