Default Tilt mechanism - rexon table saw

    Hi everyone,

I have been very fortunate to snap up a bargain second hand Rexon 12in Table Saw. However it is missing the tilt mechanism. The saw runs very nicely and the height adjustment works really well, fence is good and the table is straight with no pits etc. so I am very keen to fix the tilt and make this my new favorite bargain. So I was wondering??

    1. Has any one got an idea where I could get one of these mechanisms or perhaps if it could be built? or
    2. There is one that looks similar on fleabay 2013-01-31_20-05-22_750.jpg$(KGrHqVHJEgFD25UL!+VBR!g44!rP!~~60_3.jpg (different brand but check out the photos black handle is mine white on ebay @ Table Saw 12 inch | eBay) at Kurnell in NSW. Would someone be willing to pick it up and part out the tilt mechanism and send it to me (then on sell the rest of the saw, should be able to score a few bucks for the motor at least) providing of course that I was highest bidder? I have sent the seller an email asking if they would be willing to freight the whole thing to me or part it out if I was highest bidder but haven't had a reply as yet .

Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

    Cheers
    Ash

Hi Ash, haven't had experience with your model of saw, but normally with a tilt arbour table saw the wheel in the quadrant opening is the blade height adjuster, and the tilt adjuster is on the case side opposite the quadrant openning.

As the saw mechanism is tilted the height adjuster pivots with the mechanism and moves within the quadrant opening. The small knob mounted concentric with the height adjuster is a lock for the height, to stop the blade moving up or down in a cut.

The winder you can see sticking out the right side of the case in the ebay unit picture is the tilt winder, the lock for this might be concentric to the wheel, or might be a clamp style unit between the tilt mechanism and the case somewhere.

While the guts of these things have a couple of basic arrangements, unless the two units are the same model, or cloned models, the chances of getting bits out of one model and simply installing them into a different model are not good. The chances of getting someone to dismantle something they are selling, photograph the innards so you can check if they are the same as yours, and put it back together properly for sale in working condition are probably less. The two saws appear to be generally similar, but even a couple of years difference in age could mean that the connecting shafts are different sizes or threads and incompatible. Have you been able to investigate your machine to establish how much of the mechanism is missing, and the sizes of the components you would need to connect to?
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
