Thread: Torsion spring needed for saw blade guard

Hi, does any one know where I might get a double torsion spring as shown below?

The guard over the top of my table saw blade consists of a splitter in line with the blade, and anti-kickback pawls to stop the timber shooting back and spearing me.

The pawls are connected either side of the splitter, and are retained in a position against the saw bench table by a double torsion spring as shown below, strong enough to hold the pawls down, but not so strong as to impede the passage of the timber in the forward direction.

The spring material is 1.4mm diameter, and it fits over a bearing 18mm diameter, and 6mmm thick, and is held in position on this bearing between the fixed splitter and the moving pawl. The centre U section of the spring goes over the splitter, and the other ends fits over a pawl on either side of the splitter.

I emailed Carbatec early last week, as it is one of their table saws (TSC-10HB), but no response.

Would anyone know where I might be able to get a spring like this?
