Default Triton 2300w Saw in Triton 2000 Workcentre Noise

    Hi all,

I have the above set up as my table saw in my double car garage workshop. It's noisy, like screamingly loud. Even with ear plugs it is by far the loudest tool in the shop.

I recognise that this has a lot to do with the relatively high power of the saw coupled with the complete lack of sound deadening afforded by the Triton 2000 Workcentre.

If I were to invest in a 10" cabinet saw from Hafco or Carbatec would I see a significant reduction in noise? I've only ever seen Workcentre table saws in action, never an enclosed cabinet saw.

    Cheers,

    Anthony

I've moved from a Workcentre 2000 with the screaming (and powerful) Triton saw to a Harvey table saw. The last time I used a table saw was 20 years ago in school.

Massive noise difference, both for the person using it and the neighbours.

It's not due to the power of the saw or lack of sound deadening, it's that the cabinet saws have induction motors - entirely different to the electric screaming motors you get in circular saws, small thicknessers, etc...

    HI there

Also the bigger table saws have belt drives whereas your circular saw is a gear driven machine. Also the saw is attached to a lot of sheet steel, which also resonates. I'm running the GMC Platinum 235mm saw in mine. The biggest pain with the Triton is that every cut is a setup exercise due to the fence needing to be set parallel every time you adjust it. Mine is about to move to my rural shed which is currently being built in order to complete the fit out of the shed, and then I think it will either be sold or stored away.

Interesting... The Harvey table saw looks good, but due to budget constraints and limiting freight cost to one vendor I think I'll go with the 10" Hafco table saw which I've confirmed has an induction motor.

    Cheers!

Also, hand tools generally use brushed motors, which are inherently loud, as opposed to full sized machines that use induction motors which are rather quiet

Oops, seems I missed the post above that mentioned that already
