back home after tool shop replaced bearings in motor & arbor (although there appeared nothing wrong with what was there).
    reassembled, squared everything,
hours and havent finished oil stoning and sanding table & extension top
turn it on and seriously Ive just sat there listening to it run so smooth so quiet, no screaming noise.

need to make new acrylic no gap plates for the blade(s)
try and design a riving knife and finish overhead dust removal.

might be done by Christmas year 202?
Well that was an expensive exercise, wasn't it. Just goes to show the value of a proper investigation of a problem before jumping in boots and all. I must try and remember that the next time I'm tempted to jump the gun.

Can I ask if you replaced the belts and if so what were the specs/part numbers? Thanks!

living in a rural farming area I went to local hardware/ engineering place and selected what was the same. and now the top is back on, home made extension table all around fitted and dust extraction trying to get my head under and find any codes on belts is crazy.
I'd suggest taking old one to auto parts place... start from there.

For future reference for those looking for thin spanners - try searching for a "cone wrench" sold by bike shops and online suppliers. They come in a limited range of sizes for adjusting bearing cones on bicycle wheels using loose ball-bearings.

    preamble, story of my life............
well 2021 has gone, that was the year of dreams and procrastinating, also was not 100% well, all that under the bridge and the list of jobs for 2022 is massive.

BUT Ive decided to put them all in different sections that way I can look at ....shed cleanliness for instance, and under that heading is a smaller list of things to do, not nearly as daunting.

So back to the old table saw, it runs like a dream everything doing what it should. however Ive been concerned about lack of riving knife on the thing. This monster has been lying around since year dot, I know the first 'slot' fits over the bolt behind the blade, the rest of it at rear of saw table but with an extension table fixed that appears out of the question.

IF I cut this mount and kept just the front section with riving knife and blade cover, could I secure it enough without it working its way onto the blade itself. Or is that just plain dumb stupid?

Thanks thought that would be the answer.
So the alternative is cutting a gap in the extension table, finding the rest of mounting pieces.
