TSC-10HB issues
HI to all,
well i finally got myself a decent saw, the TSC-10hb, after about 2 years of research and humming and hawing.
Its mostly everything i dreamed it would be, rips like a dream though not tried any real hard woods yet. The fence is brilliant i have to say and i'm looking forward to the advantages of having my triton router permantly ready to use.
However i do have a few issues with it and wondered if these were common
1. Initial set up ( i've only had it 3 days) was quite difficult because the manual has to the worst i've ever had with any tool or anything that needs a manual for that matter.
2. Both extention wings are slightly sagging in the middle( only by about 0.5mm) and the only solution i can think of is to have them remilled.
3. Splitter and safety guard : This is the fist time i have operated a saw that doesnt have a rising and falling riving knife and my initial feelings about it are not good. My main issue is that it seems it is impossible to pass a piece of wood through the saw that is thicker than 75mm. for instance i wanted to resaw a peice of timber(i have no bandsaw) to make my Zero clearance insert by sawing one half then turning over to do the other if you know what i mean but that is not option with this saw.
As far as i can see you just wont be able to pass anything thicker than 75mm or am i missing something.
4. Router Fence: i would also like any suggestions for a homemade fence if anyones done it for this saw ( i cant find one in the router section threads ). I will eventually buy one i suppose ( probably incra ) but will have to work on the Mrs for a while before she allows more tool purchasing without any woodworking production.
Any comments greatly received
Merry Christmas to all
Ross

Ross, you prob know this but there are cast iron wings around that can be bolted to the TS wing and take a router. Try the Timbecon website.
As for the sag, that's a bit disappointing. Maybe average out the error and do some trial cuts to see how it performs in real life.Cheers, Ern

When I got mine a few years back it only took a few hours to move it inside and set up, I didn't think the manual was that bad. In any case there are manuals on the web (Grizzly I think) as they have an equivalent saw.
As the sag is only .5mm I wouldn't worry about it. In practice you won't notice it as it is only the thickness of a few sheets of paper. If it wasn't a sag but raised it would be different.
That is the way the saw is. If you have to saw timber thicker than the blade remove the splitter and guard and put a small riving knive on your zero insert and use a grrripper (or similar type of pushblock) as well.
Make a simple router fence that can slide and clamp onto the TS fence and use the TS fence to adjust it as necessary.
Peter.

Thanks Peter for the quick response
I was pretty much of that opinion myself with regard to the sagging wings but i guess you just it to be perfect when it comes out the box.
Cant think how i will put a small riving knife on my ZCI but will have a think about it, i'm sure that'll be a reasonable solution for the odd occasion it will be an issue.
The router fence suggestion is also a definate goer so thanks for that to.
I have also been looking through your set up and theres lots of great ideas especially for a sliding extention which i will hopefully get around to one day. I have just this morning struggled through with the help of my wife passsing some whole sheets of 18mm ply.
However my first task for the saw is the building of a basic workbench.
So much to do........so little time.
Cheers

You're welcome Ross.
For this have a look at post 4 & 5 of this.
My problem too, but I might have a head start.
Peter.
