    Default Tsc10

my dear table saw has been slowly getting upset with me.
    Turn it on all good
run timber through does not matter what size/thickness etc
but as soon as I finish cutting but leave motor running, getting next piece ready to cut

it develops this whining/screaming noise that makes me suspect something is wrong but no idea what. esp when just running and not 'working'

background I purchased this brand new from Adelaide, brought over here, then lifestyle went pear shaped we moved house several times and this stayed unassembled, still in its cartons in a shipping container for over 5 + years. Got it assembled early last year (I think) and this noise has just got worse.

Whining/screaming noise suggests dry bearing in either the motor or the arbor, copes with initial turn on but is steadily expanding as heat builds up. Make a cut and everything is under more load so heats up faster, turn your back and the bearing gets to the point where the balls don't have the clearance to rotate and start to skate instead, and make noise as a protest. Remove belt and run motor for an hour or so on its own. If it screams it's a motor bearing, if it doesn't scream it could still be either motor or arbor. Only real fix is replace faulty bearings, if they have skated the the balls and races will be damaged to some degree and cannot be trusted in the future.

Thank you, will get onto this tomorrow. who would redo bearings? I realise this will need to wait until after new year....I can live with that. but yikes sounds expensive.

The arbor bearings are quite easy to do yourself, if it's the motor best to call on the professionals at a motor rewinders if you're doubtful about your abilities.

well gents long time between drinks, I kept putting this off as I was concerned about my capabilities of pulling something apart and getting back together with spare bits lying around.

So where would I find a technical drawing of under the table. Bug*****ed if I can shift the bolt holding the motor adjustment.

As I first mentioned about being stored etc I can see rust on the motor pulley wheels. Would it be wise to strip underneath down and check everything> thats why a tech instruction book/manual would help.

Ahem I am old school and nearly always read instruction manuals
