Unknown Flap On Carbatec Tablesaw
Hi Folks,
Does anyone know what the flap is for on my Carbatec c250p?, its attached to/part of the dust housing inside the cabinet.

You are pushing it the wrong way. It is part of the dust shroud, spring loaded to be pushed out of the way when changing the blade.

Just goes to show I probably shouldn't answer things when I wake up in the middle of the night.

If you don't know what it is it should be thrown away.
I am learning, slowley.

I dunno, either... but could it be a 'built-in tool' to make removing blades easier?
ie. press it up against the side of the saw blade so it catches a tooth, then you can use your free hand to operate the wrench?
That would be significantly easier than many other ways I've seen the operation performed. Provided there's enough tooth offset for it to securely catch, of course!

I would imagine it pivots so it stays in position when you tilt the blade over and closes off the gap to prevent dust going out.

Don't have experience with that model, but suspect that it might move against the spring loading to admit some external air if/when the dusty is running and the material being processed is severely restricting air flow from above the table, thus keeping air flowing and carrying dust out of the saw mechanism and keeping it moving in the ducting. Above assumes that there is something to limit movement range and prevent the flap from opening enough to engage the blade.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

You could be right ya know, I just noticed something on the very expensive carbatec zero clearance insert plate, it has some sort of mechanism which pushes the flap inward towards the blade, never noticed before until your post!, nice one mate
Here's the $169 insert plate by carbatec, bloody jokers, for that price I'd want it gold plated and handed to me by Jodie Comer:

and here's my tuppenny bit one I made:
