    Lightbulb VALUE Dado set Recommendations.

I finally have a saw that can take a dado stack.

Can anyone recommend a good value METRIC dad stack please. I definitely do not want an imperial set, don't want to be working out conversions.

    TIA

As far as I can tell, this is the only metric set available, couldn't find anything else on the internet anywhere. https://www.timbecon.com.au/sawing/c...w-blade-metric

As far as I know, Elan is right - there is only 1 metric Dado stack that I know of.

I have heard some folks say to just get an imperial one, and fiddle with it - but it does my OCDness inside out - everything I have and use is metric, and not having owned a dado set, I cannot figure out why an imperial one (that costs near the same anyway) would be a better choice?

I've had a dado set for many years and its completely irrelevant whether its metric or imperial. Every dado cut is trial and error. You can stack the blades on a board to get as close as possible to the width you want using the supplied shims by aligning with sample stock. You then make a cut and add or subtract shims as needed. I don't even need a measuring device. I've also made a long sample board with about 15 dados all labelled with the number of chippers and shims from 7mm up to 19mm for the standard size timber. I use this board as my starting point. I have a Dewalt set that I got from Amazon and I've also used a Freud set, both imperial and yet I mainly measure in metric
So it makes no difference whatsoever whether its imperial or metric. Timbecon are the only ones that have a metric set but I personally feel it is a bit of a con. I believe you should not limit yourself to Timbecon's metric set when there are better quality stacks and a larger choice out there.
